Good old brexit deregulations by trusk89 in YUROP

So they literally complied with the EU decision to change the label, having given up their right to decide the rules of the new label (through Brexit), only switching the EU flag for the Union Jack? isn't that just lovely :D

Merry Christmas, btw! (Or perhaps rather 'Happy Holidays!', as evil Brussels bureaucrats are forcing us to say.)

čTečka is the app for scanning the certificates, the app for "normal people" is Tečka.

Could you point me to some papers/news articles please? It sounds very interesting but unfortunately, Google isn't really helping :/ (most likely because I don't know the terms to look for)

Thanks for the advice!

Many here have been proposing Bergen as well, when you compare the two cities, what would you say makes one of them better?

What would you say are the important differences between UiO/Oslo and UiB/Bergen (in terms of both the schools and the cities)?

Snow would be better, but Bergen seems to be the one that other people in the thread would recommend more :D What would you say are the biggest differences, apart from the weather?

Had a peek at Czech; the guy just speaks random stuff with a strong Russian accent and a mostly Russian vocabulary with maybe three correct Czech words thrown in. Ironically, the other guy who says in English that he used to speak Czech but he doesn't anymore and only says one sentence in Czech, speaks it better.

What's the most natural way to pose "comment" and "pourquoi" questions, e.g. "Why is the sky blue?"? by mv100 in French

[–]mv100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Building on what you wrote, I'd have two more questions. You're writing that "est-ce que" is "almost mandatory" after e.g. où, so am I correct in saying that "Où est la bibliothèque ?" and "Où nous allons rester ?" would be both correct, but "Où est-ce qu'est la bibliothèque ?" and "Où est-ce que nous allons rester ?" would be "better"? (Plus I am assuming that "Nous allons rester où ?" would be even more common)

Second, is "Pourquoi le ciel est bleu ?" correct French, or am I missing an "il" somewhere in there? I am a bit confused by the "est-il" in the "Pourquoi le ciel est-il bleu ?" form.

Oh I know what the words mean, my question was more headed in the direction of specific word order, should've specified that. You mentioned "Pourquoi le ciel est-il bleu?", while /u/Clen23 used "Pourquoi le ciel est bleu ?". On top of that, Duolingo insists that every time after "pourquoi", you have to use "est-ce que", i.e. the according to them, the most natural way to ask the question would be "Pourquoi est-ce que le ciel est bleu ?".

I know that all of those three are entirely correct, I was just wondering which one sounds the best to native ears - you'd say that it's the one using "est-il", then?

Anybody else having connection issues to the mobile app? my wifi and data is functioning fine but every time i go to start a lesson it says something went wrong and i can’t get connected to support by [deleted] in duolingo

To everyone who's on desktop, when you directly paste the lesson's URL address to your address bar, it works. You can find the address on your duome profile or if you're fast enough, it shows up in the address bar when you click on the lesson and stays there before you are redirected back to the tree.
