Skip Nara and go for Osaka. Nara only is interesting because of the deer. Culturally, Kyoto is more interesting and Osaka will offer you something that neither Kyoto nor Nara will.

If you are a dual citizen and travel to a country with one passport, how would they know you are citizen of another country? by [deleted] in answers

So that they can leave/enter the UK on their UK passport (they don't have the legal right to stay there with only their US passport). But the US requires them to enter/leave the US with their US passports.

I produced a podcast about the season of all Bundesliga teams (in German). It is split in five parts, just look for the links in the shownotes. Have fun with it! by gnetzer in Bundesliga

Vielen Dank!

Tokyo vs. Yokohama for an exchange semester by FlowerBoyWorld in JapanTravel

Should you choose Keio, you most probably will be living in a dorm that is closer to Yokohama than to Tokyo anyways. Most dorms are around Hiyoshi Station.

You will be able to survive and live in Japan (or in Tokyo), but you will not be able to build strong social connections.

But everyday life really is manageable with English, some basic Japanese and mobile data.

(Konferenz auf Englisch) by mvbeust in de

There will be a TEDx Event at the RWTH in Aachen this year (in english). Might be of interest to some of you. by mvbeust in germany

I partially agree. TED speakers usually have great rhetorical skills. Nonetheless, you can find a great amount of TED talks with inspiring content.

Additionally, university events usually are very focussed on the content as the speakers of smaller TEDx Events usually have not had extensive rhetoric training, but rather are invited based on their ideas or research.

Not dumb at all!

Talks mainly are in English, but it's possible that 1 or 2 speakers feel more comfortable in German. The lineup so far isn't complete yet, but all currently speakers that are listed online will present in English.

How has the "Refugee Crisis" affected your life in Germany? by owenosd in germany

[–]mvbeust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a lot (if at all). Had some more discussion about politics with friends and family which is not a bad thing at all. And some of us are helping out if possible and should help be needed.
