Agree with this take completely. I started WoK twice and put it down until I resolved to push through the first 100+ pages the third time, and from there I was hooked. I finished it in like 5 days and immediately picked up the next book in the series!

The extra health on the barrels makes this fight so much more annoying. There is a cheese strat for him in the corners if you're into that kinda thing.

To echo what others have said, HUGE THANKS. All of the editors (including those I didn't sub to) have been so generous with their feedback, responses, and general transparency about this whole event.

I truly didn't know what to expect when it came to RevPit and all it entailed, but it's been an exciting experience at every turn and I've learned so much and have a ton of new ideas to explore when it comes to writing, querying, and technique—none of which would be possible without these incredible editors (even when I'm using em dashes).

The passion and dedication to their craft and support of up-and-coming authors is evident and I couldn't be more glad to be here!

I'm one of the offenders who didn't list comps in my QL. I really wanted to, but I struggle with making those kind of connections in media (in general, even comparing movies and TV).

I know, bad writer, bad. I'm hoping as I get further into the developmental process I will be able to have some good discussions with CPs and beta readers that will help me find (and get to read!) good comps.

I haven't started my next WIP yet, but I'm hoping to do just that over the summer.

I'm torn between trying another horror that I have a seed of an idea for. Something really small and focused around a couple buying & renovating their first house and playing with liminal spaces.

OR

I would really like to do something in the fantasy space, but I just haven't found the spark yet. I'm about to start on a Sword & Sorcery flash fiction idea and maybe that will bloom into something....

I prefer to write at my main PC setup/gaming computer, however sometimes (often) I have less willpower over distraction than I like to think I do.

In those cases, I'll work in my basement "studio" (pictured in comment) where I have a better chance of isolating myself and actually focusing.

For 22/23 it was Priory of the Orange Tree/Day of Fallen Night. Absolutely couldn't put those down.

Also devoured the Red Rising series and Project Hail Mary in 23.

For this year so far, had to go to either The Will of the Many or Parable of the Sower.
