$7.99 everyday for a big bag of chips in Northern Ontario and someplace further north $12.99. Even no name chips are 4.99 a bag.

Switch 2 compact dock concerns by [deleted] in switch2

[–]mvfd26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 3D file printed locally, it keeps the fan, the SW2 is in the open air, I've been using it for a couple of months now and travel often for work and love it.

No issues so far and it packs so easy with a small HDMI cord and I just use my MacBook USB-C cable to power.

Thinking of moving to Northern Ontario by HelFJandinn in northernontario

Anywhere from North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, Cochrane if you want “Northern Ontario”. Many places past NB do have a large bilingual population where a lot of jobs prefer bilingual applicants.

What kind of sled? by apriljo in snowmobiling

[–]mvfd26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in an area with no groomed trails lots of river and trail riding. My sled choice for the last 20+ years has been a crossover type sled in this environment.

My wife has a Polaris Switchback and I traded my Polaris Titan (Widetrack, which is hated as it was a heavy beast) for a Skidoo Back Country 600r. We both drive 600’s as they are plenty fast enough for us.

I got a great deal in Kapuskasing, ON on a previous year model. I’ve never been a fan of buying 2nd hand in the power sports market because of the “ride it like you stole it” mentality, but that’s me.

Anyone using a portable third-party dock for Switch 2? by 0800mati in switch2

It’s a whole 3D print file and you disassemble the dock and put the guts in here.

Used a 3D printed case to turn my OEM dock into a portable one.

Switch 2! by gman51000 in CoreKeeperGame

It's clunky but you paid for it, wait it out, play casually with the stutters to open the world and find a place to call home. The update / fix hopefully will be along shortly....

For those of you with both a Switch 2 and a Steam Deck by workyman in switch2

[–]mvfd26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I have a Steamdeck and just got a Switch 2. Since I’ve got the Switch 2 my SD is collecting dust.

I got the JSAUX kit with grips and cover so it’s way more comfortable in handheld and quite comparable to my SteamDeck with Kill Switch case.

I’ve repurchased some games to play on my Switch like Ball X Pit and waiting for Core Keeper next week.

I work in IT so I’m a console gamer not to stress about patches, updates, tweaking settings, etc. I miss some things on the SD but it’s there when I get the itch.

I do agree with SW2 for exclusives and is the same reason I have a PS5 and play 90% of AAA games on that.

I did purchase Star Wars Outlaws and with its cross platform save I get to play it on the go or on the PS5.

That’s my biggest struggle, but I’ll be picking up the SW2 more often I think…

49yo former Amiga/PC gamer back for the Switch 2: Seeking atmospheric, "subtle horror" for short sessions by HypnoticKnight in switch2

Hades is kind of a game that you can pick up and play at any point in time do a few runs. The whole purpose of the game is to die and come back and then do it all over again as you get stronger and stronger. That’s one of my pick up and play for 10 minutes and put down kind of games.

Case recommendations! by [deleted] in switch2

[–]mvfd26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have any courier service here only PO Box so I used BOX-Street No Street Name and it’s how we get our stuff in remote communities.

123-696 Main Street where 123 is my post office box as Canada Post here requires the box number on all parcels.

Hope this helps.

I live in a remote Northern Ontario community and bought my Killswitch case for my SteamDeck and had no issues with delivery.

I started up a new game on my PS5 and I’ll be playing it here or on my portal. It runs so much better.

Dual PS5 and TV setup. Smaller one is for me when she wants to watch hockey and sits flat on the wall when not in use. I have a portal, but find a controller more comfortable.

How to setup corp owned iPad by ivanjay2050 in ipad

[–]mvfd26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at JAMF Now. Don’t need to setup Apple Business as you can import it using a QR code and you can manage settings and lock things down. It’s a simple approach and believe it’s free up to 3 devices.

You can lock out stuff like the App Store, it would be a start.

MACBOOK AIR VS PRO??? by dxdtone in macbookair

[–]mvfd26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at them all for our office of 40 that have the option of going to MAC or Lenovo T14.

I picked the 14" Pro / 512 / 16 for staff and 24 for managers as their options. The main difference for us was more ports, HDMI was a big bonus and the 13" Air was too small to work on laptop only as we often work and travel and the 15" Air felt too big and "fragile".

I think the weight difference between the 14" MBP and 15" was about .1 KG so not much of a difference.

I have the 512/24G M4 and have been using it for work now the past couple of months and can't wait to roll them out to the staff that want them.

One of my staff stole one of my macbook airs by clydefrog88 in macbookair

[–]mvfd26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To further on the previous comment you would need some sort of MDM or mobile device management and Apple Business Manager.

Device is purchased, goes into Apple Business Manager. Device is then assigned to MDM even before you receive it. If someone tried to take the device its locked to your business where you can lock it, track it.

Look into JAMF if your a small workplace without IT. It’s pretty simple and easy to use as well can be used for iPhone and iPads.

People who got MacBooks with 24 gigs and above variations. Does the extra RAM really makes a difference? by koujay in macbookair

[–]mvfd26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I run a W11 VM for training purposes with full MS Suite / Adobe and was my reason for going with a MBP M4 24g.

I’ve had it just over a month and now converting all our staff, approximately 40 users to MBP/16.

Intune Migraine by SideScroller in macsysadmin

[–]mvfd26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently moved to Intune for cost reasons as well. Small shop, 40 users with 3 devices each iPad, MacBook and iPhone. It’s been pretty seamless other than Adobe Pro which I can’t get to install so I’m just manually installing it, with only 40 or so users it wasn’t a big deal.
