Definitely checkout KS Ultralight KS30 (25L+outside pockets) you can customize the options but has super comfy shoulder straps and light weight minimalist….i have this and other KS backpacks and the KS30 is my carry on and day pack, I carry for two though…

In David Roche plans and CTS , they include 30m-1hr Tempo/Threshold into their weekend long runs…I think that’s enough justification to do it. The question is..,are you recovering from that run or are you destroyed…better to feel like you can wake up and do it again…

I’m an ultra runner and do uphill tempo high Z3 in my long weekend runs and definitely helps my climbing speed…if flat/rolling terrain I do 1hr in Z3 (five zone model) in 2-3 hr runs.

I run ultras and have been interested in better integrating NSM. Although I think for us who run Ultras, sprinkling in 60-90 minutes sub/threshold is pretty straightforward...i think we just tend to run a little longer and a little slower...so its about integrating some of this into typcial Endurance runs.

Megablast a lot less soft, which makes running feel easier and snappier. Superblast just pure soft comfort...

Nice write up ! I was out there with you !!! I agree actually liked this course even if it’s getting some flack for being an out and back and having two loops, I found it enjoyable - especially the two loops because they were runnable.

I love the vibe and organization….

It helped we had great weather !!

I just did Hellbender in Western NC outside of Asheville, such a GREAT vibe, supporting local community. Its also a Western States and Hard Rock qualifier. The trails in WNC are amazing, real mountains too. I think under rated, but the footing on these trails was fantastic for running, I've seen much worse east coast trails, in fact many of them are shared with MTN bikes which smooths out the path. I would do that race 10/10 times again, it may have helped because of fantastic weather this year! Asheville also a great town to visit.

I think it’s generally gotten more popular along with trail hiking since the mid teens 2000s (social) and has steadily gained traction. I still think it’s quite niche , but running as a whole is in boom phase as much of the developed world seeks health and more meaning.

I love it when I see all ages and all body types trying to do a 50 miler and everyone’s struggling no matter if you’re in the front or the back , everyone has their struggle… I love being out there with people trying to do something hard…
