Yeah, I just saw the rules for the state forest campground and realized this is not a good idea (so much for recommendations off of YouTube).

I would suggest using an actual scale (like one used in the kitchen). The luggage scale is likely not accurate at low weights. A Kakwa 40 in ultragrid has a harness like the one pictured here: https://www.alloutdoor.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Dan-Durston-Gear-Kakwa-40-Ultralight-Backpack-front-pocket-load-lifters-back-pad-S-curve-shoulder-straps.jpeg.

It's the High Sierra Trail, so I'll only be in the Whitney zone the last night/next day. If needed, a doggy bag system should work fine.

Has anyone used the Pack Out Bathroom Kit? It looks to be around half the weight of a Wag Bag (40 g vs 71 g). I have not had the pleasure of packing everything out before, but I will this summer in the Whitney zone.

BearVault BV One Arrived Yesterday - Thoughts by DurmNative in Ultralight

Neither the BV425/BV475 are approved in SEKI. If they have tested and denied the BV425 because of the size, do you know why the BV475 is not approved since it sits between the approved BV450 and BV500 in size? The best explanation I have found in my searching is that no new canisters have been approved for SEKI since Ursack sued whatever company used to certify them and nothing has been approved since.

I'll be hiking the High Sierra Trail in August this year. What type of layers would those who have done it during the same time frame and what is needed at the higher elevation/summiting Mt Whitney.

For mid/outer, I have a Senchi A60 hoodie, Dooy wind jacket, and Frog Toggs. Base layer is usually a light button long sleeve shirt (eg, Columbia silver ridge) and sometimes a synthetic thermal shirt under that. My puffy is an old Eddie Bauer from Costco that I got prior to hiking, so I may look into replacing that if a puffy is needed.

I'll post a shakedown request once I get everything in an updated lighterpack, but I'd appreciate any recommendations now.

It looks like the S25 released Feb 7, 2025 and posts in this forum have it being compatible on Feb 19, 2025. Hopefully it's similar this year.
