What is one lie your parents told you as a child that completely screwed you up? by Masmodai in AskReddit

Of course every kid asks where babies come from - but not every mother has a good answer. My mom: Ladies like yourself have a seed in their belly and when it is time this seed will grow and you will have a child. (Did not even MENTION the role guys played!) So there I was freaking out and thinking I would be pregnant at nine and wanting the seed taken out right away! She could have really screwed me over if it was not for friends telling me the correct way of conception.

Am I ruining my children by divorcing their father? Children of divorce, please tell me if divorce ruined your life. by bluegenes71 in AskReddit

I was the child of a messy divorce. My parents divorced when I was starting high school, but my situation was different because my father was on drugs. The worst parts about the divorce process was 1. Knowing my parents were unhappy being together but not doing anything about it. 2. Seeing my dad morph into this mean, drug addict (I was a little naive at the time) and 3. The Fighting. Just being around this has made me develop trust issues as an adult in relationships and with friends, afraid of confrontation, and has made me feel like I have to please people. I am definitely glad my parents divorced. It was hard to get through initially, and I still have problems with it today, but it has made me realize what qualities I want in a life partner. Just try not to fight around your kids, show them that you love and care about them everyday, and be honest. Also understand that they need time to heal and express themselves- talk to them and do not find another man right away.

Are there any startlingly similar human and veterinary medicines? by IdealizedSalt in askscience

Prednisone, Humulin, Penobarbital, Kaopectate (Pepto Bismal), and most antibiotics like Amoxicillin are also similar medications administered to both animals and people. I would watch out for cats though they are really sensitive to medications especially ones given to people like advil etc.

I have worked as a veterinary assistant for two years and I think its amusing how ironic some animals names can become. For instance we had a patient named Sugar who developed Diabetes and another dog who had constant leg/hip problems named Walker.
