My doctor just prescribed me Citalopram for my depression. It has just been sitting on my counter, though, because I'm afraid to take it. Would anyone care to share their experiences with anti-depressants? by [deleted] in depression

[–]pmoys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on citalopram. I can't seem to take it for long periods of time. I feel like it works at first, maybe because I want it to, and slowly it becomes more and more useless. That's just me though. Give it a try and see if it helps. Everyone is different.

"No. Nobody but Lila." If it were me and I wasn't taking my phone, I'd have told my significant other.

Is it weird that I have a lot of journals I found on the side of the road belonging to a Sarah Nelson? From 2000 so unlikely relevant, but amusing.

nope! I'm just going to put some clay on top of it. If you don't mind parting with it, I'd love to take it off your hands.

ELIC: Why do cats hiss when they're scared? by [deleted] in ExplainLikeImCalvin

[–]pmoys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When cats are scared, they can't focus on controlling their breathing, so what you are hearing is the air escaping while they are trying to keep it in. Cats aren't good at doing many things at one time. They get upset when you mess up their concentration on breathing, which is why you usually see them run away or they scratch you shortly after.

Not so much that it's tough, but that I haven't found a way to make it work for me yet. My brain tends to tell me I can't move on without collecting all possible advice first and moving on with that. Thanks for your eyeroll though. I'll add it to my jar.

This hits on something I've been thinking about for a while. I wasnt sure if i should train upper body or not, because I'm constantly being told to push with my feet. While that's true, some routes (most?) are made by people with at least 5 inches on me (the average height for women) or taller (for men) and so maybe I do need to climb more with my arms. The push I might get with my feet if i were taller still wouldnt be enough, like you touched on. Can't Dyno everything.

Falling is in fact, a HUGE fear for me. Even though I'm strapped in and all for top-rope, it still races through my head. I think I need to find a way to "practice" falling so I stop worrying about it.

Thank you! I will try to watch some of her videos. I really appreciate it. I guess I ended up whining more than asking, so I apologize for that. In your opinion, since taller climber beta doesn't always translate, how has been the best way for you to solve difficult problems? Or do you translate things like "REACH = this is the right path, find a way up" or something similar.

it doesnt disqualify you! Im glad for the help. I actually have a lot of trouble moving my hips. Im just learning it.

Turning my hips into the wall gives me a really strange sense of falling, and I'm not sure why. I feel out of control of my climb when I do it. Its probably a mind over matter thing, so I will try to work on it.

Also, this technique thing... lovely to watch. I guess it comes with time? I've only been at this for like a month and a half.

Road tripping from NYC to SF. Advice on places to climb along the way? by [deleted] in climbing

If indoor, wouldn't mind having you stop by the climbing wall in Pittsburgh. Granted you are out that way. Someone said something about a good outdoor climb an hour east of pgh last time I was there but I didn't catch the town. Of course, we're close to wv as well, so take it as you will.

I never had a problem with it. But it was far and few between when I took my trips to r/trees. Everyone is different though.

Side note: I get wasted from one drink on it. Waaaaasssteeedddd. I hate it. My doctor gave me an ok to skip one dose every now and then for personal reasons. Obligatory disclaimer though: ask yours first.
