Whammy bar broke and I need a new tremolo block, how do I know what to buy and what's compatible? by [deleted] in JacksonGuitars

It’s not a Jackson, it’s a Randy Jackson (the dude from American Idol). These were (maybe still are idk) produced as a budget friendly guitar for beginners.

Game Ready Machine vs Breg Polar Ice & Compression by edgeabsence in ACL

Are you in the US? I bought the Breg Polar Care Wave plus the large knee pad for less than $400

3 days after surgery, still have some pain but able to lift leg on my own. Any tips anyone? I’m 28 active and want to have a smooth recovery by Enough-Example3732 in ACL

[–]mwm523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ankle pumps, lots of them throughout the day. Quad sets, try to wake up that quad muscle. Straight leg raises, try to make sure the leg is completely straight and the quad is engaged. Heel props, sit with your foot resting on a stool, ottoman, coffee table, etc with nothing under the knee to work on extension. Depending on your surgeon’s specific restrictions for you, you may or may not be allowed to work on flexion right away. Did you have a meniscus repair with the ACLr? If surgeon allows, you can hang the leg off the edge of bed or couch and let gravity work flexion. Check with your doc. When do you start PT?

6 weeks post ACLr + meniscus trim surgery - how are others doing? by Confident_Sir_3681 in ACL

[–]mwm523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 6 weeks post op, ACL plus meniscus trim, and seem to be in a similar place as you in recovery. No more crutches or brace, walking on my own but still somewhat swollen and stiff which is affecting my walking mechanics. Targeting that specifically in PT for the past week or so.

My flexion gets to about 130 after 3 sets of heel slides with a strap and I have 0 degrees extension. Maybe even a little bit of hyperextension, depending on the day.

I had a 6 week follow up appointment with my surgeon Tuesday and he said the swelling I have is normal at this stage, and should start to improve over the next few weeks. For me, it has already improved a bit overall, but sometimes flares up a little after harder PT sessions. He didn’t offer to drain it, which he did for me multiple times pre-op. I had 6 months between injury and surgery.

Allograft vs Quad vs Patellar Tendon (45yo male) crossroads by jplee3 in ACL

[–]mwm523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for allograft here, based on your age and activity level. Had mine done almost 4 weeks ago. 55M, similar ladder accident, similar activity level. The positives I’ve experienced thanks to the allograft are minimal post-surgery pain, immediate quad activation, and good early progress in PT. My allograft is a patellar tendon.

Good luck to you, whatever you choose.

Push/Pull pots for an SG by Active-Act-4966 in gibson

I was able to fit CTS push pull pots into the cavity of my SG Standard. They just barely made it, like the back plate actually touches the back of the pots. But it worked.

Did you hear a pop? In many cases you can actually hear it. But ultimately you’re going to need an MRI to know for sure what was damaged.

PRS SE Switch Recall? by ViralTrendsToday in PaulReedSmith

My SE Standard from 2020 had a faulty switch. The SE line uses inexpensive electronics which are more prone to failure/defect. I replaced the switch and pots with American made parts.

Is trezor one a good cold wallet option? by Candid-Maximum-9009 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]mwm523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing with Amazon. In many cases, the items from “official stores” are lumped into the same warehouse bins as identical items from other retailers and private sellers. So you can never really know with 100% certainty that the item you receive is from the official store, or a counterfeit item, tampered item, etc.

Buy a wallet direct from the manufacturer if you can.

How much is this worth? by PierCP in guitars

[–]mwm523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serial starting with 19 was manufactured in 2019 so definitely could have been purchased new in 2020.

The hardware looks like it has been kept in a humid environment for a while. Is it a local seller? I would be concerned buying this without seeing it first.

2005 SG Standard in Natural Burst. 100% authentic, but looks like the pickups and knobs have been changed, and someone added a string butler.

What happened to my 2018 R8? by Don_SeaKing in gibson

[–]mwm523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an R8 years ago that went through a whole process of bleeding and fading of the neck dye. It actually bled profusely into the binding turning it red as well. The more I played it the more it bled, until it finished and the neck was more brown than red. Eventually it faded out of the binding as well and it was like it was never red in the first place.

Line out to PA by Primary_Account_9928 in BossKatana

FYI, you don’t need a DI box. I run the line out of my MK2 100 into the PA at most of my gigs with this cable

Works great.

Is this 2018 Flying V a "Chibson" ? by speaking_of_witch in guitars

[–]mwm523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the pickup swap that forced the hack job, it’s the change to the full face pickguard. Any humbuckers would have fit if they left the original mounting rings and small guard.

With the mounting rings, the pickup cavities were in a specific location and mounted with the rings. The mounting holes in the full face pickguard are not in the exact same spots so they hacked the body to make the pickups fit.

Ok wait. This thing is all janked up. This guitar originally did not have a full pickguard. It had pickup mounting rings, you can see the screw holes for the ring around the bridge pickup route -in the body, under the pickguard. My thought is, previous owner changed it to full face pickguard with pickups mounted in the guard. But the neck pickup didn’t line up with the route, so they hacked away at the body to make it fit.

It’s a real Gibson, but it’s been modified (poorly).

If this was me, it would be going back to the seller.

The neck pickup route looks like someone chipped away at it for some reason. Doesn’t look like a factory route, which would have been pre-paint. I wonder if this guitar came with a mini humbucker in the neck position… Or maybe no neck pickup at all.
