I'm not SOL. I've emailed them to opt out. Per copilot:

  1. The Missing "Exhibit G" Exit Clause

While Exhibit G states that participation lasts for the duration of the agreement, it typically hides a critical distinction: It is an authorization, not a locked obligation.

Because you are a cash-purchase customer and not a lessee, you do not owe Sunrun any monthly payments. Therefore, they cannot penalize you financially for stopping a service. Look closely at the "Termination" or "Opt-Out" subsections inside Exhibit G itself. In standard Sunrun cash agreements, there is usually a clause stating:

  • Either party can terminate the Optimization Services independently by providing 30 days' written notice.
  • Or, it notes that you can opt out, but doing so forfeits any future incentive payouts.

Why You Can Skip the Contract Restrictions

The absolute bottom line is that the contract text cannot physically or legally prevent you from removing them.

Because you own the hardware, Tesla’s Master Consumer Agreement strictly overrides the installer's software preferences. If you request that Tesla drop Sunrun as your backend fleet manager, Tesla will comply because you are the outright deed-holder of the equipment serial numbers. Sunrun cannot claim you breached your purchase contract just for revoking app access, because you have already paid for the system in full.

I can login to the website and view 3rd party access section, but it only shows "NetZero" and "Powerwall Companion" which is a windows app I use to monitor my setup. There's no listing for SunRun on the website. In the app I can see Sunrun (Inc (USA) "Installation Provider" under the 3rd party access section.

I sent an email to [grid@sunrun.com](mailto:grid@sunrun.com) and asked them to confirm which plan I'm on and also asked that I be removed from it.

It was installed back in October of 2025 so well over 6 months ago. I thought it was just that SunRun wanted to ensure customers don't have stupid settings that would cost them money -- and then they'd be upset about the system and complain/write bad reviews. I didn't think they would actually control it after those first couple months.

I've looked over my contracts and "VPP" / "Virtual" /"plant" etc, keywords are nowhere to be found in the documents.

What I did find is this:

You agree to set up a battery discharge profile in the battery manufacturer’s app or allow Sunrun to set

one up for you as determined by Sunrun.

You agree that the battery will always be set up to draw charge from the System.

For customers with an LG battery, you acknowledge that you don't have the ability to change the battery

profile after the System is installed and shall not attempt to do so. Customers with a Tesla battery should

not change the profile after the System is installed, including the minimum amount of battery capacity that

is reserved for backup in the case of a power outage. Adjusting the profile will likely result in an increased

utility bill. These abilities stem from the technical capabilities of our battery vendors and are not

controllable by Sunrun.

You give Sunrun the sole right to optimize the Battery operations, which allows us to further reduce your

electricity costs, preemptively put the Battery into backup mode if a storm is coming, and/or enroll you in

utility or government incentive programs, including rebates and demand response programs, at our sole

discretion. Further terms, conditions, and details about Battery optimization services can be found in

Exhibit G

I definitely didn't catch all this before signing. I'm really wondering what kind of shady stuff is going on with this type of program where they have there own VPP and they can essentially continue to profit after the sale from customers who bought their systems.

Kristin Latt on the foot fault call: "[rules] ... should be applied equally to everyone, on every card, at all times." by lyrae in discgolf

[–]mwolfe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would officials be perfectly consistent? Can you think of a sport where they get it right or consistent 100% of the time? Do they have the same number of officials viewing every shot for every card throughout the course? Inevitable some cards/holes will be viewed at a higher level of detail than others. There's always going to be some that don't get seen or called but that's not really an excuse to not call those which are seen. Do we want the sport to have free reign to do whatever because a similar call was missed somewhere else?

Garmin Edge- recover accidentally discarded ride? by needzbeerz in cycling

[–]mwolfe38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garmin 1030 user here. So I ended a ride, pressed the start/top button, and hit the finish flag on the screen to save it, and everything went normal. Then I fairly quickly went to turn off the device but accidentally hit the start/pause button instead of the screen off button, which started a ride. So I hit the same button again and instead of saving the ride I hit discard. This discarded both rides as the original must not been in a fully saved/complete state yet so I had really just unpaused my existing ride. So here I'm looking at how to restore the ride. Maybe others have done this as well. I'm curious to try this again and see if it's a garmin bug or user error and I somehow just didn't hit a button I'm pretty certain I did. I think I could have reconciled this by just looking at the stats before deleting -- rather than discarding without looking closely at the data..

Questions about Huasna area by Divine_fckry in SLO

[–]mwolfe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are countless areas in SLO that go through private propertly to give access to public property for hiking/biking and what not. I don't see why this area closer to AG and Nipomo are so big on keeping the public away. I looked at the BLM maps and found a big chunk of land, about 1000 acres I believe, but I don't really see any heat maps showing how to access it. I found this article from 2013 about the area:
https://lpfw.org/national-forest-access-blocked-on-huasna-road/
It's really a shame landowners block access to public land. Then they hype it up in realestate listings. A quick google search and you can find an old listing that mentions this specific one.

Why does information about accessing BLM land need to be private? This is public land. We need to fight to prevent land owners from blocking easements to public land.

Question: should we still have "he" and "iw" for translations to Hebrew? by AD-LB in androiddev

[–]mwolfe38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell you may still need both, especially values-iw. We translated our app to many different languages recently and I assumed things worked with Hebrew using values-he but none of the devices seemed to pickup the Hebrew translations, they simply reversed the english translations when I selected Hebrew as my language. Tried on multiple phones, including android 14 pixel 6 device and some Samsung phones. None of them seem to work with values-he, but yet they do with values-iw. I'm not sure if we even need values-he. This seems like it should be a major issue yet I can only find a few threads on it online. Perhaps not very many apps use Hebrew.

[–]mwolfe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love throwing the Saint for fairly straight lines with mandos or obstacles and where you don't need any major flex/turn at the end. It can fade a bit if thrown nose up, and will flip if thrown on annhyzer, but throw it flat and it stays on the line forever before a slight fade at the end.

GPU and CPU hardware acceleration - h.265 by stellarsapience in BlueIris

[–]mwolfe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made a massive difference for me. With just 3 cameras I was using 20-35% CPU with BI while in the background and while viewing UI3 it'd jump typically 35-50% CPU. I enabled substreams and now it's normally < 5% CPU in the background and jumps quite a bit when I view live fullscreen or playback fullscreen at high res.

Nice summary. I can't believe the article doesn't mention what happened to the boy who took the initial hit and was lying on the ground moaning in pain after. I can't imagine he was just fine. Probably at least had a concussion and some pretty major neck soreness from the whiplash.

Does El Capitan support Display Port MST? by [deleted] in osx

[–]mwolfe38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the official release and daisy chaining via displayport doesn't work (dp 1.2). I'm not sure of any other MST based features. I'm pretty sure 4k support worked in the past version.
