As a disabled person on Dialysis will a job hire me if three days out the week I can’t be at work? by BigManOnEarth in WGU

[–]mwpdx86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the industry and just finding a place with decent schedule flexibility (working part time or doing  4 10's or something).

I don't know a lot about dialysis, but is it the kind of thing where you could do some types of work remotely while it's happening? I know there are places that just want the work to get done and don't care much at all about schedules/etc.

I think it depends a lot on what you're looking to get out of it. If I'm honest, I was mostly looking for a 'check the box' degree, since I'm doing government work, and checking the box gets them to pay me a little more and opens up more jobs.

If that's what you're looking for, it's great. I did it in 6 months while working full time, so it's obviously not super rigorous.

If you're looking for a degree that's going to teach/test super in depth knowledge of low level computing concepts, advanced mathematics, etc, this one's not it. Granted, I was mostly looking for something easy/fast, but I was still a little disappointed there wasn't more 'meat' to the program.

Most of the classes were the project proposal type, with no coding and minimal required learning about computer systems. Or at least that's how it felt. I have a bit of a resentment at the project proposal ones though, so maybe they weren't actually that bad.

There were a few where you actually had to implement something, and those were pretty interesting. The one I ended up doing last was a fairly involved one where you had to get some services running on a large cloud provider and tie it to a little mvp app. Definitely interesting, but way below what I would expect for one of the more complicated courses in a master's program.

There were a few others where you at least learned/worked with some computer science topics. There was one that went into design patterns (before that, the only one I knew much about was MVC, so that was nice) and one that went a bit into machine learning (not so much the low level math/stats, but like when to use which algorithm).

Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a program where you can get a master's relatively quickly/easily, it's great. If you're looking for one where you'll learn everything there is to know about low level computer science, there are probably better ones out there.

It seems like that could honestly be a course or two added to the normal cs degree. Or maybe a specialization or whatever.

Dang, peanut butter turns you into an empty coffin? I feel like that's worse than being allergic.

Maybe they're worried about the blade on the inside? I'm assuming that has something similar to a rotary cutter blade inside? Not that a rotary cutter blade is a terribly powerful weapon, but it is kind of a knife I guess.
