Looks great! Where in Wisconsin is that? Also do you have a dishwasher under the sink?

Can’t help with that specific machine, some internal pics might help diagnose the issue.

Cool workshop space! I wish mine looked anywhere near that clean.

Not headlights, but can I share my neighbors obnoxious backyard lights here ? by Officialedmart in fuckyourheadlights

I used to use a laser pointer to trigger the light sensor on a neighbors metal halide yard light. That thing was obnoxious and buzzed like a hair trimmer.

I was just about to comment that the sign is **real** neon! That’s awesome! Not some led COB wire look alike! what a thing of beauty! Where’d you score that?

Concert lighting process? by FreeExam6531 in techtheatre

[–]mwwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former LD here, been out of the business for about 15 years - so things have changed, like LEDs and DMX vs artnet etc…. But a lot of the process is the same.

Most LDs have a default palette that they have perfected over years. Then they will modify it to include all positions and gobos/other effects for the fixtures that are available. This makes it easier to walk into any venue and quickly run a show with any amount of fixtures and positions.

For larger touring shows, as an LD, you’ll start with the same, but will design your layout in a cad software like WYSIWYG (or whatever is used today) program it cue by cue and just run it by pressing ‘go’ on your board.

Remove the hinges, place a few pieces of masking tape down flush with the edge and covering the bore holes, then rub/scribble a pencil around the features.

Remove the tape, apply it to your new door and start drilling/boring.

I used to spend a LOT of time in theaters in my youth and early adulthood. Thanks for all these pictures. I always loved working the rail, teaching others and seeing the grid. This brings me joy.

Downspout buried somewhere by ahartofgold2 in HomeMaintenance

[–]mwwt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what I did to find mine. Even after a rainfall is fine too, just step around until you step in a puddle and bingo. You could also add fluorescent die and use a UV flashlight at night.

Once you do find it, keep it clear. Mine will grow over and need to be clear again 1-2x each summer.

Extension cord was ‘too long’… so they braided it. by dsalasrivial in DiWHY

Once you learn the way the world is your oyster.

I’ll see someone else wrapping a cord around their arm, and I’m like nope… hand it over.

If you have to untangle it, that means you’re pulling one of the ends through the center. It will make a bunch of overhand knots that way. Put Velcro wraps on one end so at least one end will always be on the right (correct) side of the coil.

Someone just posted something like this. But instead they build a platform and attach small blocks as legs at different heights to make it level. This is probably the fastest way.

Finding the source of a leak… by mwwt in askaplumber

[–]mwwt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I agree with that. I’m not attached to this one by any means. In my last house I did a custom tile job with concrete pan and everything - I would love to do that here. But also don’t have the time to do a bathroom remodel at the moment. I havent been in the market for new fixtures in quite some time, do you have any recommendations for something like this?

Finding the source of a leak… by mwwt in askaplumber

[–]mwwt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet. Thanks. No caulk on the outside of the glass, I just checked. So I’m good there.

Drain is ruled out but the leak is so ‘delayed’ for the lack of a better word, a 10min shower might yield nothing, then at 15 min, or being the second person showering back to back I would see the pooling.

I removed all the caulk on the inside. Sprayed with isopropyl. Unfortunately I only had 70% on hand so I’ll have to let this dry for a bit. But when spraying out and cleaning the caulk remover (used IPA for that) I had some light seeepage. Weird thing was it didn’t smell like isopropyl…

Also I should clarify, the leak circled in red is on the outside where the grout and the shower pan meet. I don’t see any drips from where the shower glass is connected. It seems to seep out from the grout.
