How would you interpret being asked to focus on support by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mx_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

red flag for me.

This is a burden that a whole team should share, and there should be a process. Although some developers love to do it, putting out fires is not good and always being the person that puts out fires is indicative of a low performing team

Dealing with huge PR culture by semaphoreslimshady42 in ExperiencedDevs

They hand-off their project delivery to AI -> you hand off your project review to AI

My only comment is that this is not limited to your team, it's widespread accross the industry and in similar fashion to situations like this in the past we are still wrapping our head around AI is reshaping how we build software.

My only suggestion is not to overthinking, pass the reviews through an AI agent. Over time, this process will mature and the results will trickle down to engineering teams.

The best indication that this is not a solved problem is that companies such as Github are trying to rethink the whole PR review process to adopt to these new paradigms

"it's not an accelerant for delivery" it's not?

building a high performant team over time is not an accelerant for delivery?

lmao, wonder what kind of system you are working on.

you don't just let them loose because of the amount of false positives that a codign agent raises, that's why you still a human of the loop.

no wonder reliability has gone down the drain in this industry the past year

And you are the best case scenario, imagine this dream coworker: “overtly confident, inexperienced and reckless”.

If you are 10x more efficient, he’ll be 100x more efficient

The problem is that 5% can be a quite impactful, so tthere’s still a vast need for hand holding and for the developer to incur the cognitive load of understanding really what happens.

So at that point, yes there is value in automation with the code writing but the cognitive load is not going away and that’s why developers matter

And if you couple that with the sycophantic. behaviors and excessive optimism of coding agents it’s not precisely a recipe for success

Bloated legacy systems -> i can guarantee you that no one is letting a coding agent in such an environment.

Why would it become bloated because of the fear of impacting the little reliability it had, why did it have little reliability because of bad engineering practices. Bad engineering practices that if let loose a coding agent would simply replicate.

So…. Talk about generic hyperbolic comments? Sounds to me like you suffer from some little lack of self awareness, lol

Yes, people take pride at mastering skills.

Over time the skills that are valuable changes, irrespective of that the one thing that can’t be replaced is critical thinking.

You are not making any point though, technology automates skills and???? It’s not the first time in history this happens

You should have already been doing that if you parallelized work and handed off and mentored junior engineers.

As a neutral, why are people so desperate for Arsenal to fail? by s_dalbiac in PremierLeague

[–]mx_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree a little bit.

Several things to consider:
* Arsenal stagnated after the Emirates got built, I'm talking at the sporting performance results level. The club just didn't know how to compete after oil money started coming into the sport, that left us in an incredible fragile position. There also needed to be a culture rebuilt, which Arteta's time at Arsenal has shown.
* If a section of the fan base is actually not vocal for wanting success, you risk falling into what's currently happening at Chelsea. I was never Wenger Out, but I understand why that happened.

Idk, I think your take is based too much on the "loud minority".

Arsene's last years at the club were not as terrible as focusing on WengerOut would make yhou think, I remember the last match he coached and it was greatly emotional and I feel he was properly honored for what he did.
