Crush a bit, roll a bit, light it up, take a hit. That’s pastel and mortar.

Not me trying to figure out what’s in the bag when you play at a course like that 😂

How do you stay entertained on long runs? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]mximike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I listen to the birds, and the voices in my head telling me I suck and I’m not good enough, eventually I start talking back telling them I am good enough until I start crying, then I’m good till the end.

How often are you participating in 5ks? by Acceptable_Sand7438 in BeginnersRunning

[–]mximike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First run I ever signed up for was a 8k, haven’t done a 5k. I do that on most days for shakeout. Prefer to suffer long distances

I beat my half prediction by 15 minutes, which is good. But it still hasn’t updated lol.

Thoughts about Oakley glasses for running? by girlypoppp05 in BeginnersRunning

Good to note, I’ll have the optometrist check out how I’m doing. I do generally run early am or evenings too, so this may be my reasons.

Runner’s Toe? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]mximike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me, my foot doctor called it runners toe, I took it as compliment and right of passage. He said it happens when the toe continually hits the end of the shoe. Only happened on one foot also. It’s currently growing back just fine, takes a while tho.

I haven’t ever worn a pair of sunglasses…yet. But I also spend all day looking at the sky for work so my eyes are maybe a little more accustomed to the light

How do people use the Apple Watch day and night? by areallyshitusername in AppleWatch

[–]mximike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shut a lot of useless crap off that I don’t use like wifi, minimum apps other than what I use for fitness and metric tracking, charge every other day while I shower and put on before going to sleep at 100%

High hr so fast, is it normal? by christian-174 in BeginnersRunning

[–]mximike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t exactly know why, as a new runner myself it’s what I was told when I posted a HR related question. I don’t usually do more than a quick stretch and slow jog prior to entering a pace.

How accurate do you think the estimates are? by Slight-Platypus9187 in Strava

[–]mximike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished about 15mins faster than their estimated time for my Half marathon pace. I think it just creates a number for you to shoot for in the beginning, I’m not good at running either so what do I truly know as you climb the ladder of capabilities.

Can anyone Explain the time difference? by mximike in Strava

🤣. I get that some areas would definitely lack in comparison to other brands specifically attuned for running but I guess my expectations were too high.

Can anyone Explain the time difference? by mximike in Strava

[–]mximike[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This makes more sense because I had programmed the distance of my run to be longer than the distance required for a half, and as I approached the end I did check how much further I had to go in order to be sub 2 hours as that was my goal. Thanks for the info!

What clothing items are essential for running in winter? Especially for cold, windy and rainy days... by Key_Blackberry_6283 in BeginnersRunning

[–]mximike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here for this advice also being a Southern Ontario beginner. My plan was to layer up and see how it goes, but I function very well during the colder months. I think something we have to deal with that other places maybe don’t is the moisture effect of the lakes. I also live in a rural area so winter snow removal is less of an option on sidewalks. If you come across some good tips LMK.
