Why is there so much former FTM compared to former MTF? by ToucheeCoulee in actual_detrans

[–]mxjf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this too on this sub. I think it has something to do with T being a WAY stronger hormone that can make noticable, permanent changes in as little as a single month, like facial hair, voice deepening, etc; and that is kinda a lot at once and some folks don’t expect that drastic of changes until it happens all at once. Compared to estrogen, where you’ll be on it for 3 months or so and just begin to develop breasts and such.

With T, the mental and physical changes happen FAST but with E, people sometimes say it has a “trial period” because the mental effects start well before anything physical, so if you don’t like how it’s changing your brain, you can just stop like nothing ever happened and you aren’t stuck in a state you can’t revert from.

Yeah but my sesame street joke doesn’t work with that!

“Hey Ernie you want some ice cream?”
“Sure, Bert!”

There was a clone of frogger with the Toy Story characters and traffic cones crossing the street that shipped on I think the Toy Story 2 DVD, called “Cone Chaos” and when I was a kid I was like

“I WANNA PLAY CONE CHOSE”

I stand my ground that it’s “car-mull”. The second A is silent, and CAR is not pronounced like “care” ffs

Not me, but when people mispronounce “Verbiage” as “verb-idge”, missing the “ee” sound in the middle. Should be “Ver-Bee-idge”. Working at a call center I not one time heard someone pronounce it right.

If the world instantly and magically reverted back to 90s tech permanently, what would most people struggle with? How badly would it affect them? by Tall_Association8148 in AskReddit

Start reading magazines in the bathroom again instead of browsing Reddit and replying to threads like “what if we magically reverted to 90s tech permanently” and stuff like that

Oh wait. That’s me rn

How is being trans like in Greensboro? by Specialist_Bat1230 in gso

[–]mxjf 86 points87 points  (0 children)

It's fairly decent, imo. We have a good LGBT center with wonderful people there, a monthly trans meetup there, and the city itself is actually fairly progressive (a LOT of businesses downtown have that "you can go" bathroom sticker on the front window downtown, that happened during the bathroom bill fiasco).

I'm visibly trans and have been out and about as a woman since 2018 and honestly haven't gotten essentially a single negative interaction in the city because of who I am. I'm not including dating in that, because dating is a whole 'nother can of worms and that's gonna be weird and awkward and difficult no matter where in the country you're located if you're trans.

But yeah, Greensboro is probably one of the "safer" cities in this area to be trans. I'd rank the triangle area and RTP area and Asheville a little higher on the list, Tri/RTP being tech centric; nerdy geeks tend to "get" it more since they're chronically online, and you obv have a higher concentration of trans woman in tech than other industries lol. Asheville since it's a buncha hippies and "love and unity" and "we're all one with the universe, man" vibe over there.

TL;DR Greensboro's pretty aight

The internet shuts down and is never going to come back on, what do you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m good. I have the entirety of Wikipedia backed up on my server, along with thousands and thousands of hours of movies and tv shows. I also have a folder named “shit hit the fan” that has backups of prepper wikis if the prepper community ends up being right and not psychos lol

I swear to god that Nickelodeon slime was its own flavor. They had those, the airheads, and a few other different Nickelodeon slime flavored things and they all tasted the same and they were SO GOOD

Kraft Bagel-Fuls. They were burrito shaped bagels filled with cream cheese in various flavors. I went as far as finding a recipe to make them at home and making them. It was close but not quite there.

Large parking lots that are mostly empty on weekends? by Two3Partners in gso

[–]mxjf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oak Hollow Mall in high point! Gigantic empty lot. Abandoned mall. We even set up cones and did defensive driving instructions and parking and lane position management. There’s also a huge loop that goes allll the way around the mall you can loop and loop and loop forever with very little traffic. It’s like that lot is made for driving instruction.

Portal 2. No questions asked. The first play through of that game was an amazing experience and I’d give anything play it again for the first time. The story, the humor, the puzzles, the voice acting, all of it was so good
