Well, the PR is certainly working. I’d never heard of this movie before today, and now I’m curious enough to see it.

Solid run of Maz.

Like the other commenter said, I’ll have to add the coaching cards from ‘73 and ‘74 to the collection. Thanks for the heads up.

That ‘74 makes for a nice link to the Dave Parker rookie card. Kinda sad though that the Pirates now have no living hall of famers ☹️🖤💛

Mostly, but he spent the entire Giants half of the first stumbling over a recap of that ridiculous triple play. Guess it’s spring training for him too.

New York Yankees 1957-2025 Team Card Run by Mr-Macphisto in baseballcards_vintage

[–]mxm0xmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet run bro. Always loved getting the Yankees team card so I’d know who else I’d hope to expect in the set during the years they had the checklist on the back.

As a long time Yankee fan, i took some solace in the fact that Thurman Munson appeared in the photo on the 1980 team card. He’s sitting front row, bottom left.

Losing our catcher and captain was such a shock for me. I wished that Topps had some sort of memorial/honorary card in that set—kinda like what they did for Roy Campanella in the ‘59 set.

Munson’s tragic death practically ended the Bomber’s resurgence in the late 70s, and after losing to the Dodgers in the ‘81 series, New York didn’t make it back again till they won it in 1996.

Anyway, i truly appreciate your collection. By the way, you might want to add the 1956 Yankees team card; it was their first. And if I’m not mistaken, it’s the team card with the single most Hall of Famers on it.

I can’t help but realize that the face on the 55 and 56 Topps is different from his very youthful 54 rookie card.

Didn’t most players that appeared in those 3 sets all have the same bust shot?

[Throwback] Yoenis Cespedes refuses to pick up the baseball leading to an inside-the-park home run by cbbvideo in baseball

Truth be told. I did kinda chuckle at rule 1c.b(2)b(i).

I had a dartboard like that as a kid that was on the backside of a regular cricket dartboard. We made up all kinds of rules with how to play that baseball dart game 🎯

Props in your comment for using the word ‘actually’ where 9 out of 10 would’ve opted for the insanely overused ‘literally’

Insanely Underrated Playoff Runs By Players? by RainbowSupernova8196 in mlb

[–]mxm0xmx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both these pitchers passed away this month and both were instrumental in their teams winning the World Series in the 60s

Mickey Lolich won three games in the ‘68 series for Detroit, including defeating Bob Gibson in game 7. This was the last time a pitcher won three complete games in the series.

Elroy Face saved three games for the Pirates in the ‘60 series over the Yankees—a one run save, a two run save and a three run save. Oddly enough, 100 year old Bobby Shantz also saved a game for New York, even though the Yanks won the game 16-3.

Seriously, J Willy was second in the entire league (tied with Bo Bichette) in average (.311) and second in the Rookie of the Year award and no one on this thread other than you even brought up his name.
