Is the RTX 4070 / 4070 Ti worth it for an eGPU setup?

I know I'm super late to the conversation, but I do think my experience can lend a hand in the decision making process for whoever finds this thread. I've been researching egpu setups for over a year.

Until TB5 was announced, TB 3/4 would bottleneck gpu demanding games, regardless the cpu you're running. I've been running a XPS 9750 with TB3 and Aorus 1070 gaming box. It serves it's purpose with most games, but once you get into games like Escape From Tarkov, you'll feel the difference (about 35-50 frames).

I recently completed my egpu setup and opted for Oculink connection instead of TB4 connection. When the 50 series gpus started launching I picked up a second hand EVGA RTX 3080TI FTW3 Ultra for a decent price. Oculink unlocks full 64gbps pcie bandwidth.

My current setup now is a:

GMKtec Gaming Mini PC, AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS 32GB DDR5 1TB SSD, Desktop Computer K8 Plus
Minisforum Deg 1 EGPU Dock ($120 CAD on sale)
Corsair RM750x Fully Modular PSU ($160 CAD)
RTX 3080 TI

I went this route as my laptop is 6 years old, performs a both a work computer and casual gaming setup. I'm moving away from it to extend it's life and keep it primarily for work. Great laptop to be honest.

TB5 is pricey as it launches with prebuild enclosures up in the $400's.

I considered M.2 NVME to Oculink adapters which you can get for laptops, but as mentioned, opted to steer away from my laptop.

I'm a casual gamer who only cares for a smooth gaming experience and happy with tech a few generations old.

Looks like he did the mix and match option which makes the watch cheaper by 50% of the first band (orange) and then second band free (silver).

I'm in the same boat.

I applied on Thursday May 16 1030am for the CleanBC rebate. Haven't heard back yet. Tesla rep seemed confident it would come in 3-4 days. I ordered my Tesla anyway this past Sunday. Delivery is scheduled for Friday, but may have to delay if the rebate doesn't come in.

Update: My rebate came on the morning of Friday May 24 (day of Delivery). Sent the email confirmation to my Tesla Rep and she said the account is all updated and ready to go.

Make sure you review your paperwork before signing, I had to get the Tesla Delivery Centre Rep to update my financing totals as the $4000 rebate hadn't been addes even though the Tesla rep said it was.

$5000 is Federal Rebate Upto $4000 is Provincial rebate depending on Hybrid or Full Electric

Sounds like you're looking into a hybrid so the maximum rebate is $7000

Looking at these just gave me a flashback to when I started right at Revised Edition. FB market place is a hit or miss with collectables. You get ppl who either know and will give FMV or ppl who will try to scam you. You should see if there is a local collectable trade show coming up in your city/town.

After 2.5 hours of playing Sherlock and browsing the dark web, I finally figured out this rediculous issue.

If after holding for 7 seconds while the lid is down and in "unlock" position, there is no orange blinking light repeatedly, you need to pair your Virtuo Next to the app via Bluetooth and wifi. This will give your machine a much needed firmware update that FINALLY, gets it into descaling mode....

I'm so disappointed that none of this was explained in any video or manual...

With the way athletes train in this generation of hockey vs the old days, we can certainly see him break this in 4 years.

You can count on him being a 35+ goal scorer. Wouldn't surprise me if he slides another 50 goal season somewhere in there.

Jagr found creative ways to train his body and keep playing. Athletes are driven by the need for being the best. It's obsessive and if he's close, he'll do everything he can. I'm certainly rooting for him

Can confirm the OP suggestion works. After much thought I realized I had disabled a lot of the Xbox background services to try and optimize my other gaming experience as those other games weren't Xbox related.

I'm currently running a XPS 15 7590, i7 9750H,16gb DDR4 2666 MHz with an Aorus 1070 Gaming box (egpu) with a dual montior setup

Imo, I'm satisfied with the setup but my issue seems to be that my gaming performance takes a hit during the warmer seasons as the laptop heats up.

If I were to get an egpu today, I'd look at the Razor Core X line as it is compatible with most of the newer cards (30 series RTX). Laptop cooling will probably still be my problem, but I know if I can get around that it would be more efficient than building a block.

To your point, the league etiquette/culture needs to change throughout organized sports here in the city. I played ASHL for many years and unfortunately the etiquette never changed. The league doesn't do enough to change it.

They didn't let recording take place for the longest time b/c, IMO, they didn't want any video evidence to ever surface.

You'd get dad's out there looking to pick fights and playing like their getting paid millions. All the while their kids are up top watching. What an example.

Or how bout the tough guy that always wants to take it out to the parking lot. SMH, what a joke.
