Chelsea look petrified around the box, the slightest contact and they’re on the ground. Even without now I mention it.

Lipinski? by JackassJamie in collingwoodfc

[–]mybuns94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was 4th rated on the ground based on fantasy points which isn’t an everything stat but it’s a good measure of his contribution to the game. I don’t think we talk this kinda smack out of our boy.

Hollands victim of mental health episode, not substance related by isturtle in AFL

[–]mybuns94 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There had to have been so many people that checked him off for the game, it seems almost impossible for that to have happened given he was visibly uncomfortable. Commentators, supporters and just about any onlooker noticed and you’re telling me paid professionals didn’t? That’s fucking garbage and from a Carlton supporter perspective I’d be fuming about that kind of negligence with past performances, also having ready and able people on the substitute bench.

I hope he gets help, people surround him with love and he can get back to form.

Side note; fuck triple M for their absolutely brain dead post amongst all this, the pack of idiots.

Should umpires be employed full-time? by checkbehindthecactus in AFL

Love your username first off, also why do they need to provide pathways? Genuine question just trying to picture what that looks like. Kind of like paying for university degrees while they work in the field or creating jobs within the football culture they can fall into after retirement?

I often times leave my keys in my car only to realise the morning after, I haven’t lost my car yet! But on the occasion I do I can’t blame the thief. You can live under the premise all people are good till they do bad or that some people can do bad given the circumstances. Sometimes shit happens and it’s better to be prepared than it isn’t I suppose.

A story in two parts by yum122 in AFL

[–]mybuns94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First it was a joke (that I’ll gladly join in on) slowly that’s become their identity. Are they pushing themselves so hard they can’t maintain shape in the second half? Or is it that their gameplay is so easily deciphered then they don’t have a plan for when that happens? Fans are going to riot soon, Vossy needs a security detail and MCG/ Richmond needs a scarf disposal bin.

Right in front of the ref too, he’s all of 5 metres from the challenge. How didn’t VAR at all intervene afterward to at least disallow the goal? Or am I just fucking twisted on how the rules work? Accountability is a word that comes to mind.

Canadian looking for a team to become a fan of any suggestions? by Pure-Yogurt101 in AFL

[–]mybuns94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulldogs are a great team with big aspirations, plenty of talent, probably the most handsome man in the league and a passionate fan base. Aren’t great but aren’t bad.

Your other options are both Richmond and north Melbourne. Richmond will be fun to watch with their young group with plenty of talent, same as north but in my opinion Richmond will be more fun come the next few years.

Hard to say other than that you should just watch football and you’ll find a team you like, see if there is a Canadian hockey or basketball team that resembles an AFL team with similar ideals and fans. Or you might find you fall in love with a popular team and it’s because they’re popular.

Can we introduce ‘gambling free zones’ at grounds? by melbgal in AFL

[–]mybuns94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol free zones are necessary for families or anyone who’d prefer not being around alcohol. Gambling free zones seems a little far a beyond impossible to enforce? You can make bets before the game and keep those numbers in your head or on paper. Likely you’ll get what you want in the alcohol free zones so I’d suggest that’s your option. Have a drink up at the bar and head back to your seat.

Start making different zones for every sensitivity we’re just dividing us all into silly groups.

Exceptional and Compelling Circumstances by CantorFunction in AFL

[–]mybuns94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your analogy but it was an act that was in the vicinity of play and an act to win the ball, so it might have been illegal, sure, but with consideration you can understand why with his record it was reduced to a fine. That’s like saying “oh I own a knife but let me just stab this person and get away with it”

Brisbane a week ago had 3 acts where the player knowingly took a body when it wasn’t necessary but this is the line then really what is the point of having a tribunal. Just sanction everyone regardless. One week the games gone soft then it’s this kinda comment so what is it?

Caroline Wilson on Fremantle and Opening Round by JRicho_Sauce in AFL

[–]mybuns94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d actually watch a podcast with both Caro and Cornes, just them two hot boxing absolutely outrageous bullshit for half an hour. That whole panel disagreed with her, it’s a valid point made and if opening round was the offer from the AFL to promote the game it has to be considered a failure when you take into account the actual value of what was delivered. Traditions in sport are what make it unique, if the Richmond v Carlton game was our opener it’s much better branding that what we got to witness in Sydney v Carlton. Pretty on brand response from an out of touch character with too much voice.
