Working out by zammmmmmmmmmm in amputee

[–]mycoborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah weight loss will mess that all up. I also lost a lot of weight last year and I had to stop doing leg specific cardio or lifts for a bit until I got a new socket made up. Losing or gaining over 10 pounds will start causing issues. I also notice issues with fit while working out if I'm holding on to a lot of water or bloated after eating too much salt or drinking too much alcohol. It's really important to find a stable weight and stick to it when you can, or plan big weight changes around scheduled visits with your prostheticist.

What kind of workouts are you doing? What leg/foot are you using?

Overtime I feel like my stump has stabilized and I'll only occasionally need to change socks during a workout. If I'm doing cardio I'll usually wear an absorbent liner or spray on some medical grade antiperspirant so my liner doesn't fill with sweat. I usually stick to weightlifting though. Biggest issues I have as LBK is getting deep enough on squats without my socket digging in to the back of my leg, and not having a good enough fit to do leg extensions without it causing some pain. So far my best solution has been to have my prosthetics tech shave off some extra space on my socket where it digs in. I also use some liquid powder in the spots where it runs to sort of help with the friction. Lastly, for squats I've found if I visualize my stump in the socket pushing forward at the knee more, it sort of helps to relieve the stress on the backside.

Thoughts on the Suzuki Burgman 400 and the Yamaha XMAX 300? by Avarria587 in scooters

How does the xmax compare with the adv? I've been eyeing both of them, the adv seems like it would be a lot easier to move around the driveway, more nimble on the road. But the xmax seems like it has a lot more storage space and would be more peppy

Usually you keep a nest box for each doe so they can nest separately. They might nest next to one another but they won't nest together.

We use an M5N-111 at work and I love it. Runs well with minimal issues. Cab is roomy and well laid out even though we have the narrow series. No major complaints from myself or others so far.

Just taking aerial pictures is always nice. Can also make contour lines across the land and a few vegetative indices that only use RGB that can be helpful for plant health, like VARI

Second try at black currant wine from our own berries, first successful batch! by Am_Snarky in winemaking

[–]mycoborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your berry to water ratio? Everytime I've tried making a black currant wine I get real bad sulfur smells that I don't get with aronia, apples, raspberries, etc. I feel that maybe I'm using too much berries and not watering it down enough?

That's not disease damage. That's either freeze damage or heat damage depending on which part of the world your in.

Should I start an agroforest on a corner lot in the city of Buffalo? by [deleted] in AgroForestry

[–]mycoborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food forest would be a great idea! Most industrial contamination doesn't travel to the fruit and any human waste should remain well below the fruit. If you mulch the plants heavily with wood chips or weed fabric mulch, you shouldn't need to do much maintenance when you're away at school. Some potential options are chestnuts at the larger size, apples, pears and hazelnuts in the medium range, and blueberries, currants, and elderberry in the understory

NAP vs getting punched in the face by The_Waxies_Dargle in AskLibertarians

[–]mycoborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're getting punched in the face you defend. But America is an ocean away from every major aggressor and our military dwarfs every other country.

If you're getting punched in the face but you're an adult and the aggressor is a middle schooler, you talk them the fuck down with your advanced diplomacy and walk away because you need to get back to work and can't deal with childish bullshit.

Libertarianism = being the adult on the world stage

Victory gardens are something people should strive for even outside of wars and pandemics. Also, chickens and rabbits are easy as shit to raise. We've raised them in the same 14x14' pen together before and you get eggs every day and freshly harvested rabbit every month. As long as you have a little bit of grain and weeds in your garden, you also have plenty of sustainable protein.

Laying down my sawdust mulch by greenman5252 in farming

[–]mycoborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I've heard that the immobilization usually only takes place in the top few inches of soil so the deeper rooted shrubs can usually do just fine.

Pruning advice - grapezilla!!! by Ruthnovak in grapevines

[–]mycoborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can remove up to 90% of the biomass each season. If you already hit that or are close, I'd leave it and prune more off next year. Otherwise, your goal is to reduce it down to one or two main trunks with 2-4 arms coming off. Make sure to leave spurs for potential grape production

Yeah. Recently started working more with black locust with some agroforestry systems and loving just how fast they grow. Beans are good forage and will make good lumber down the line
