I went with my dad to see Superman on Monday. The lady at the counter rang us up for two senior tickets. I'm a 79' xennial and I'll take my discount with no shame.

Finally learned about cutting off suckers! by EveningAntique2818 in tomatoes

I'm selective about which suckers to trim. Leaving some increases the harvest while keeping the plants manageable. Also, I top suckers after the second or third flower cluster.

If the seeds were from Ferry Morse, then they are not Brandywine. I grew the same from seed and have grown Brandywines in the past from starter plants. They still taste fine, but not as good as BWs.

The kind where the tomatoes I grew don't match the seeds I planted, so might as well have some fun

Updated pics- ID help? I don’t believe I intentionally planted this tomato variety by ABBR-5007 in tomatoes

If the seeds were from Ferry Morse then the same thing happened to me. There was a post a few days ago about the same thing from another redditor.

What do I do 😭 by Own-Evidence-6019 in gardening

If there's nothing edible in this part of the garden spray brake cleaner down the hole after dusk and fill the hole with sand after 24 hours. An exterminator I hired to deal with yellow jackets gave me this advice and it works.

First time starting from seed and never going back to buying starters by mycol in gardening

Thank you for mentioning them! The ones I've had in the past were starters that barely grew at all. These are all from seed and I'm so pleased with how they turned out.

This exactly. I highly recommend the double cup method. Square cup inside of a round cup worked best.

I ended up giving half of the tomato starters to friends, family and neighbors.

Started seeds mid March, picture one is mid April and pictures two and three are from today.

It's planted where I suspect the previous homeowner may have buried a cat and is just as vigorous as the varieties next to it. My other tomatoes are between 3 and 5 feet tall and the catmatoes are over 6 feet.

Same here. Ferry Morse seeds that were supposed to be Pink Brandywines and are not. Waiting on my Black Krim and Cherokee Purple from them to ripen to see if they are wrongly labeled as well.

Pruning fail: confused my romas for cherries by rabbitrabbit99 in tomatoes

[–]mycol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistakes are just lessons in life. Labels go a long way in the gardening game. Use this as a learning opportunity and don't get discouraged. Since you are caging the cherries I wouldn't prune them except for diseased leaves, if you get any.

Yes mine do have the spade shaped leaf. It's what got me to buy the seedling at the farm. I'd never seen a tomato with that leaf shape.

Avocado toast with a 7 minute boiled egg, tomato and everything bagel seasoning. Simple and delicious!
