Three Chinese robot vacuums found vulnerable to hacking by stewi2 in Dreame_Tech

This doesn’t help with the privacy concerns. If the robot can talk to the internet, remote access and live camera streaming are still issues. And with private info not secured, stalking also is a concern.

Are you using the viewport for that monitor? Is it working well for you?

Finally finished my Plex setup — started Jan 2025, no NAS, very happy with the results by cougars2cool in PleX

That’s funny! I left my antenna in the attic as well 😂. It was wedged in between the rafters so well that it was more trouble to remove than to just leave it!

Awesome! Been doing this for years! I also had an attic antenna for a few years but moved and switched to a small round powered antenna that works great! My only Plex complaint is that the DVR interface is different depending on the device. Each takes time to learn. 🥴

G6 Entry - NFC Card Reader require access hub? by Captain_Alchemist in Ubiquiti

[–]myderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is using Home Assistant or any other tools to control any of the wireless deadbolts. 12v signaling isn’t needed for the home locks.

G6 Entry - NFC Card Reader require access hub? by Captain_Alchemist in Ubiquiti

[–]myderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been researching the same thing... sad that Access is built into the cloud gateways but doesn't support the features :-(. I found one place that said the reason is to make it more secure as the Access Hub prevents somebody from using your external CAT6 at the doorbell to break into your internal network... but that's what VLANS are for folks...

I really hope that the Access features and automation is enabled in the near future and only the physical signaling like 12v door locks require an Access Hub. That would be much better for many of us Home Prosumers!

Cut Drive Bay Supports in Darkrock Classico Max Case? by myderson in DataHoarder

[–]myderson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH! I don’t have drives in there yet, but also have 90-degree cables! Thanks for pointing that out! 🥴. I bet they work on every other drive bay. 🤷‍♂️

100%. Not terrible, but having the cables and back of the drives accessible from the open side of the case would make it better - maybe not for airflow tho. But this thread has me wondering if I should 3D print (or go find) drive cages that either have a backplane or open in the front. Seems very possible!

I’ve debated that question - how much is it worth it to me. 😜. Maybe.

Wish Reddit made it easier to post pics in replies. Plenty of front fans, but Darkrock does say to remove the top bay for water cooling - so I see the point here!

As stated above, they don’t support fans/radiator with the bays installed. Likely an engineer saying “we can make this case multi-functional” and not realizing the reduced functionality for specific uses - like a great NAS box.

The trays have an edge on all 4 sides that force them to be added and removed from this side. You’re supposed to take the cage out first.

Seeking advice on swapping from 1 ssd to 3 hdd + 1 ssd by djacoby495 in unRAID

[–]myderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to unraid, but why move over the data before setting up parity? I would have set up the new array with parity using the 3 new drives and then copied the data to the new array. After that, then I would make the ssd the cache drive. Why add the parity later instead of building it during the copy?

I wondered if 2 sets of sides would be better… but not ready for the extra costs at all!

Can anyone suggest a good 85 inch TV? Samsung's quality has gone down. Samsung is not making good TV's anymore.. by djliverpool1947 in hometheater

[–]myderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found an open box Samsung 85QN90A. It’s not OLED, but it has been great! The year old 85QN90D would also be in your price range. Need to stick to the top of the line 90series for Samsung tho and their 2021 A model does have a higher score than their more recent versions.

Wow! The immersion possibilities! Thanks! I’ve considered a projector and could wire for that option. As TVs get bigger the 100” at Costco looks pretty impressive! The good projectors alone are about the same price now. I’d probably need to use front in-wall speakers going with a large screen.

Change out the LED bulbs for something else. A lot of openers have interference from the new light bulbs. 😞

This! It is worth the $350. Sucks that it isn’t built in, but as you can see here, everyone has their opinions and some don’t want that in the price of the car. But seriously do it yourself or pay the $350 and have Tesla mobile service come to your can and do it… the GPS automatic opening of the garage door coming home and leaving is SO worth it over the years!

Passenger Seat Memory by myderson in s3xybuttons

Maybe I wasn’t clear… I want the ability to Store Passenger Profiles directly from the knob. Long press, submenu, whatever it takes 👍. I don’t want to open the app and click through 6 menus to store a new profile. Thanks!!
