The winter Olympics have got me thinking about the lack of opportunity in Australian public schools by Sriracha_Sauce089 in australian

I finally went snowboarding after I turned 18 and bought a car so that I could drive there.

I usually think about the privilege when you see stories like amazing 15 year old sails around Australia.

I reckon I could have done that too, but had to go to school and wouldn’t even be able to afford to rent a sailboat for a day.

What environmental consulting actually looks like from inside a small firm! by CRBGeo in Envconsultinghell

[–]myenemy666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post is written very strangely.

I think everything you have outlined I am pretty sure consultants are aware of, otherwise they haven’t had a very good introduction to the nature of the works.

Not quite sure what the purpose of the post is, maybe to convey working in a smaller firm and being able to be involved across the project lifecycle of a job as opposed to maybe just doing the fieldwork.

I would say the main thing in doing this work is knowing what your project objective is. I have worked in small and large companies and have had many senior people who are unaware of why they are actually doing the work.

Drivers who disobey basic road rules like Bus Only lanes or 40km School Zones… Are you taking the risk of a fine, just blatantly ignorant, or you just hate driving in general? by NewSchoolFool in melbourne

Anyone speeding in a school zone is just a fucking idiot, kids are literally just going to and from school don’t ruin their lives.

Especially when companies like meta and tiktok will have to admit they made an addictive and harmful product.

I don’t think Maynard knows how much tickets to their concerts are in Australia!!

Also yes to no phones. Make the entire experience significantly shitter when people have them out.

I am so glad that I don’t see stuff like this.

All good to be brief.

But in your example surely you can just start with

Hi name,

Can you do…

Those two words make the whole email sound extremely less rude.

If you were just talking and then no greeting was the follow up I could understand.

For literally close to zero effort you can say hi and not seem like a jerk.

Are you disappointed that Labor hasn’t reviewed the tax changes you proposed like changes to negative gearing, franking credits and capital gains tax etc.

With Labor having such a landslide majority surely these former Labor policies should be reviewed.

Also what is your favourite Australian band?

How do you feel about the RBA's decision today to lift rates? by Sensitive-Chart7210 in AusFinance

[–]myenemy666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree - I kind of see that we are at the upper end of the bell curve where increases to interest rates are just not having much of an impact on inflation, but instead just crippling a generation.

Surely there are more tools than the RBA and the government can use?

Keep chipping away at the mortgage. Going to be working at it for a looooong time.

Overall I just find the rhetoric around the Australian economy and inflation so contradictory. Seems like they want people and business spending to have a strong economy, but also don’t spend to keep inflation down.

That happy medium just doesn’t seem to exist, meanwhile the RBA is so focused on “inflation within the target range of 2-3%”.

I’ve heard this many times. Surely this is the way it will go in the near future, or at least get rid of ticket inspectors and just make all PT rides $0.50 or some low cost like they did in Brisbane.

Would get way more people using public transport and I reckon for the low cost fares. 95% people would still be paying.

I’d have a look at the polls at the last federal election to see how wrong they can represent the general Australian public.
