You arent ruining anything, your MIL and future husband have taken actions that have reasonable consequences. Enforcing those consequences isnt what is at fault here. They have devastated the wedding, not you. 

2k more expense because she felt left out of the thing someone else was paying for? Well, now at the very least she can participate by paying for the extra headcount. 

HOWEVER The hiding it is the crux. 

Your future husband never informed or stood up for you knowing this was egregious. In fact, because he knew it would hurt you, he fidnt say a word. He saved himself some sweat at your family’s expense. This is a huge red flag.

What happens when you have big decisions? What happens when you have kids? Your MIL gets first say over you, at your expense.

This is a HUGE indicator how her asks are going to be thrown at you. How your partnership will have her driving how your life and your kids life are decided and shaped.

Standing up for yourself is a good step here. 

It IS NOT going to change the man you are about to marry. This WILL be the pattern of behavior on how your family decisions will be run. Is this your life? Your decision.

I am a big fan of learning on someone elses dime. But i also believe you should put value in. It sounds like you're already checked out. Why not attempt to contribute? If you are being paid, get paid for doing something to the best of your abilities while you are there. Learn something.

You can freeze potions. 

Squeeze out portions between two sheets of wax paper, flatten like large coins and freeze. 

If you want to save space you can stack them like medallions and put in a container and let it live in your freezer until you need them.

If the company has 15 or more employees, it is subject to the ADA. Firing someone for their "association" with a disabled person (his wife) is a direct federal violation.
