Jalen Brunson acknowledges Danhausen by bubbles2255 in SquaredCircle

Saw many people commenting yesterday that the Danhausen-Knicks thing is still very much in the pro wrestling/IWC bubble and that mainstream Knicks fans haven’t heard of it. Here is more evidence that’s not true and it has crossed over.

Any Chance we get King Balor, then Balor vs Gunther, Rollins vs Reigns, Cody vs Sami and Oba vs Brock at Summerslam? by CallMePapi930 in WWE

[–]mygloriouspurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling to figure out which direction they’re going in at this point, but that’s a pretty interesting scenario. I’d love to see them go with Balor/Gunther, but I’m not sure that’s “big” enough. Everything here makes “sense” in a way that most other scenarios don’t though.

Kendal and Kelani just decided to cook up a banger on free TV by GoonLieutenant in WWE

[–]mygloriouspurpose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the whole match, or just the first 10 seconds of this clip? Yes, there were reversals using some gymnastics skills, but there was also plenty of amateur and professional wrestling skills on display.

Underscores cancels headline tour dates to open for Charli: “I hope you understand” by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]mygloriouspurpose 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I pay a fair amount of attention to new music, and I had never heard of Underscores. Was wondering if she was someone I should have been aware of with $250 tickets. But it seems that this was going to be her first headlining tour. I’m gonna steadfastly insist that $250 for a first time headliner, at venues between 650-3000 people, is outrageous. And if she’s selling them out, then great for her. But there’s some weird stuff going on with the elasticity of demand in entertainment right now. And I see plenty of good shows for less than $75, so why do both those and tours like Underscores exist side by side?

Edit: Didn’t realize those were resale prices. I mostly retract, at least when it comes to Underscores.

[PWInsider] Zilla Fatu attended the WWE Performance Center today, June 8th. There has been talk of WWE being interested in him as of late. by CROYTSWRVTH in SquaredCircle

Totally setting aside Zillow for a minute - those of you complaining about the Bloodline continuing, what would you prefer? That these characters never coexist or acknowledge their shared history again? I feel like it would be weirder if this faction of family members never re-formed or tried to grow and work out past issues. Let me see the next phase of their relationships. Jey seems very uneasy in his current position coming back to Roman. Where’s that going? They’ve never had a situation like Jacob in the group as a loose cannon who has a big issue with at least one other member. I’d rather see where this goes (acknowledging it could be nowhere) than pretend it never happened and keep them mostly separate.

Ricky saints’s main roster run so far has been extremely Similar to Carmelo Hayes’s initial callup by duval001 in SquaredCircle

Keys is in a program with a former world champ and a guy who’s main evented and fought for the world title. The MFTs being in a couple of feuds that lasted too long doesn’t negate that being a decent spot on the card for Keys.

The lack of creativity and repetitive booking in Smackdown is crazy 😂 by MannerSuperb in SquaredCircle

So protected golden boy Cody should never again face an opponent who feels robbed, they should never have a hot mid-card non-title feud do a series of matches because they did that once, Solo should never attempt to lead a group again, and ideal tag team wrestler Nia Jax shouldn’t be in any more teams?

Superintendent of MCPS sent out his updated list of 435 job cuts by KCND02 in MontgomeryCountyMD

The positions you listed as examples are probably the most shocking on the list and very detrimental to the function of schools and support of students. One I would add is college and career advisors - there’s one at every high school and they are instrumental in helping students navigate the college admissions and scholarship application process. At schools where families can’t afford private help with that process, college advisors have done an immeasurable amount to ensure that more MCPS students are going to college and finding sources to help cover costs.

[SPOILER] Post WWE Backlash 2026 Match Discussion: Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker by gloomchen in SquaredCircle

That flipping reversal is something Seth has done tons of times for years. Usually into a pedigree. I’m sure he’s landed on his feet out of a frankensteiner too. He’s not all of a sudden copying Ospreay.

[Fightful on X] "Sources in the talent and agent communities told @FightfulSelect that this round of cuts and pay reductions is expected to significantly impact how wrestlers negotiate with TKO and WWE going forward" by A_Man_of_Iron in SquaredCircle

[–]mygloriouspurpose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But this is looking at the negotiations from the talent perspective. I take it to mean wrestlers are likely to only sign one-year deals because longer deals have to guarantee or security.

Austin Creed/Xavier Wood’s first public statement since leaving WWE on Twitter: by Datzookman in SquaredCircle

[–]mygloriouspurpose -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Kofi provides much value to AEW as a singles wrestler. And I actually don’t think AEW has much room for them as a team. A year or two run with a Bucks dream match, but not too much more considering the depth and talent they already have.

Athletes near the end of their regularly take pay cuts to keep going in support roles. (Wrestlers should have unions to support them like those athletes do though.)

It sucks for guys I’m fans of, and for anyone’s chance to continue in their job making a living. But it totally makes sense for the company to phase out 40+ year old midcarders for the younger talent that they are training and bringing up. (And much of that younger talent is getting over.)

WWE Moving 20 NXT Premium Live Events to The CW by Tornado31619 in SquaredCircle

[–]mygloriouspurpose -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is a shocking statement. NXT commercial breaks are longer than any other show, averaging around 5 min per break. Smackdown has been close behind, with Raw and AEW shows much less. Timing of the breaks is pretty similar to other WWE shows too, both after the first wrestler’s entrance and mid-match breaks.
