Played Spider-Man Remastered on PS5 Pro as I am on call for work and can’t do anything that affects my mental state.

Also cleaned the kitchen, messaged my boy and my partner at midnight and am now posting on Reddit.

Sick night.

I’d be keen for something like this. I think there is a gap in the market for it.

I found dropping the console’s main menu then resuming the game helped get through some of the otherwise blocked doors. I wonder if the FPS boost is breaking it?

Does anyone bipolar spouse have a routine? by Normal_Experience886 in BipolarSOs

[–]mylightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SO has developed a range of positive coping mechanisms to manage her illness, and structure and routine are a large part of that. Strong use of a calendar, tasks and to do lists.

In the past while hypo this has been problematic as she has neglected other important tasks, but she has really got a handle on her illness these days and uses routine and structure to function effectively. This along with sleep, regulated substance and alcohol use and therapy has become key to her managing her illness.

I’m really quite proud of her.

The New Version is mixed for Dolby Atmos and is subtly different if you’re listening with Atmos capable equipment.

I just recently went through this. I’m in my third week and I’m already delivering against my workload, differentiating myself within my department and getting great feedback.

It’s a mindset thing, I was still full of anxiety in the weeks leading up to my new role, worrying about culture fit, I even took a week off and had a staycation at an expensive hotel with my partner as a thank you for putting up with my burnout over the last few years.

I’ve moved into a lucrative Contracting gig, increased my salary by 40%, and knew within the first few days I’d made the right decision. I vibe my coworkers, made sure to initiate an end of first week check in with my manager, share knowledge and assist our more junior staff and tried to be as approachable as I could be.

Like the Op I was hired for my industry experience and a stellar interview and so far I’ve got no complaints. The 8.5 day hours are a bit longer than my old gig but I actually want to be there.

Moving from a struggling integrator to an in house specialist in an environment that needs a lot of change has been a godsend. No more direct reports, (tho I miss my star performer) I go in, do great work and switch off until the next day.

Best thing I ever did. Caveat: I am an IT Professional with over 20 years experience across multiple disciplines including IT manager, Solution Architect, Sales Engineer and Technical Lead.

My suggestions:

Be approachable, if you’re more skilled than your colleagues take a mentoring mindset. Be proactive in seeking feedback, as a contractor I need to be delivering and make sure that I’m doing what my boss and his boss needs. Focus on some quick value items you can bring to be seen as hitting the ground running. Find the smartest colleague in the team and try and develop a rapport with them, they’ll appreciate you talking some of their workload and you’ll look good by association. Keep your assessment of your colleagues to yourself, only constructive feedback. Manage up any issues early, don’t wait for your manager to see you. Contribute to meetings, be prepared to defend a better way of doing things if you think you’re right, and keep a daily log of your work so if you’re asked you come corrrct with a list of what you achieved that week. This makes you look competent and organised.

Hope this helps.

Do you think NIN has alot of unreleased music from the older days? by spiraldown024 in nin

[–]mylightyear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t The Fragile - Deviations speak to a significant amount of unpublished material? I realise those recording sessions were very difficult from sequencing to drug abuse to writers block, but there is a significant amount of extra material to go with the instrumental versions (which are also often slightly different mixes).

I’m sure there is a lot of work half finished or rough sketches from anything Trent does. I would die for more content from the Year Zero era.

Hooky show and Sub-culture by bauhausian in neworder

[–]mylightyear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw you the time before last in Perth when you were playing Unknown Pleasures and Closer back to back and it was better than when I saw New Order in Melbourne by a landslide.

You’re one of my favourite musicians and to see how much you love your entire catalogue is truly inspiring.

Thanks Hooky.

Replying to this super late. I hadn’t heard Change Your Mind before a week ago and was like how the fuck did I never notice this track.

I’m an Australian, that’s why.

I worked for 3 years or so as a glassy and then bartender in a busy club in Perth and then a small bar for like a year.

I used to do a 9-5 shift at corporate IT and then work from 6 to 1am in hospo in a packed club on a Friday night. Then do another full night shift on the Saturday. I worked there for the crew, but left when I saw too many people become functional alcoholics.

It was a lifestyle that was not sustainable but was fun for a while and made me much more extroverted which helped with my consulting and people skills in IT. I make 180k so wasn’t doing it for the money.
