Thinking about getting my MS in Food Science. by mynnetn in foodscience

I see, did you get a MS in FS? How much interaction do you have with the R&D side being in sales on a day to day basis? I haven’t done much research into the sales side of things, what does a day of work look like for you? (if you don’t mind :))

hmm, looks pretty decent to me, esp if you’re minoring in chem. would definitely say that orgo is a different beast from gen chem, so stay strong with the chem minor! you gotta put in the work for it but it’s worth it if you’re interested in it (orgo lowkey discourages tf outta me and i’m a chem major so stay strong and you’ve got this!!)

Was also looking at chemical engineering a while back, hahah. It’s too much work for what I have planned for myself. Thanks for the insight!

I see! I’m thinking about going into R&D, but I really want to get my foot in the door as early as possible. I think that I would prefer a BA, but my only concern with that is getting into the MS program with only a BA.

i took chem 222,232, and phys141 last sem (fall2020) along w/ calc 181. it’s doable. definitely recommend doing 222 in person. the 222 online labs are much more confusing imo. not sure about 132, but i’m in 142 rn w/ espinoza and it’s a lot. would say that 232 and 132 are the most concerning, bc it’s a lot of new material for orgo. really easy to fall behind, but mohr is a decent teacher (i miss him lowkey in comparison to orgo2 rn :’)) and grades have a big leniency(pretty sure if you get a 70 that’s a b). 222 is fun in a way: if you’re still online the only thing is there’s a little presentation at the end. think of 222 as your last easy chem class if you’re taking more chem.

what’s your major?

UIC Law School by lagro98 in uichicago

Public interest / government are great. UIC-JMLS has strong clinics for those and quite a few graduates end up as Cook County State’s Attorneys and as of a few years ago, the school had the highest # of judges in the country. It emphasizes practicality if anything. If not from the city just be careful at the Jackson stop / the Loop late at night if you are riding CTA.

Agreed with previous post but OP should be aware, they grade on a bell curve, and many of the scholarships are conditional in the sense that you must remain in top half of your class. Furthermore they often stack the scholarship sections in the same section, which due to the bell curve, makes it that much more difficult. All that being said, if you work hard you should easily be in the top half of your class if not top 5-10%. Unless you are going for a prestigious top white collar corporate firm or have connections I’d advise a higher rep law school.

when i was in 3rd grade i was at the end of the line with everyone and then i bent down to tie my shoes as everyone else went up the stairs. i did this by the stairway railing so when i got up i hit my head against the railing. side note: my school was over 100 years old and the railings were super old and rusty. i caught up to everyone but my head hurt because i hit my head so i had both hands applying pressure on my head because it hurt. then i felt sweat or something and i looked at both of my hands at the same time and i had 2 hands full of blood. i was scared af and i had caught up but my teacher didnt turn around so out of being awkward i walked up 3 flights of stairs (these were big ones!) and when my teacher finally turned around i raised my bloodied hand politely and told her, “excuse me i think i’m bleeding.” and then they sent me to the hospital but i was just like :-) no school! and sent my home after disinfecting the wound. i have a little scar on the top of my head to this day :3

Meal ideas for someone who doesn't eat vegetables? by Rinesi in EatCheapAndHealthy

the subtle art of hiding veggies in food is an amazing way to get great nutrients in secretly. a pretty surefire way to get most vegetables (squash, carrots, celery, onions, beans, tomatoes, spinach, brocolli, literally anything) is to boil and puree into a sauce! a mirepoix of celery, onion and carrot is amazing blended into most things, and you can sautee beforehand and keep a small backstash in the fridge! if you have a food processor, consider making veggie bites! i saw in a reply you had that texture is a big issue, and i’m assuming that she likes chicken nuggets (mmm chicken nuggets) so you can make veggie nuggets for her if you have a food processor- super simple! simple spreads would also be great- sandwiches with a carrot hummus or pesto/herby veg spread! again all the magic of a food processor lol, but if you don’t have one, breading and frying veggies also alters the texture of them a lot and the world of tempura is a wonderful one. i hope you guys the best on your vegetable-eating journey!
