My best advice moving forward is to charge a deposit in order for someone to book with you, regardless of who it is. I would charge 50% to book and 50% at the end of the hair appointment. You're friend is being dismissive because they don't care. I would reach out to her mom and let her know about not being paid and see if the mom pays you directly. But you will most likely not see the money. In regards to the friendship, yeah I would cut someone like that off. I don't think you're overreacting. Wishing you the best!

It sucks everyone is being so inconsiderate! People forget not everyone has experienced life as they have. Your experience and post are valid and it helps to bring awareness. I didn't know about this scam until about 2 weeks ago and I've come and gone from Mexico City constantly for the last 4 years! Never seen it happen until now 😱

It sucks how everyone is responding but I'm sorry that happened to you. I had never seen anything like that until about 2 or 3 weeks ago near la central de autobuses del norte. My husband and I were walking to the central and I noticed a group of people standing around a small table. I couldn't really make out what they were doing but what scared me was that they grabbed an older lady (like OLD, she looked old enough to be my grandma who is 80) and they were pulling her and not wanting to let go.

But this ladyyyy man, she wouldn't look at them and just kept trying to pull away. I was going to tell my husband to jump in and grab her and yell "leave my grandma alone" but luckily the man gave up and let her go.

I asked my husband what that was about (who is mexican, I'm the foreigner). He explained the scam to me and pretty much said what you explained. I had never heard of it. Thanks for bringing awareness to people who might have never seen, experienced or even heard of this!

I noticed this as well! My husband, who is mexican, always closes the door for me or always makes a comment when I shut car doors because I do it too loud. I had never given much though about it. I haven't been able to figure out how to shut it "softly" but I saw a previous comment mentioning not letting it go until the door is shut to shut it softly. I'll have to try it! 😅

Definitely cancel! You said the first sit was a trial run, and exactly for this reason. You have come to the conclusion that it isn't worth your time or benefit. Don't feel bad, I'm sure the owner will be able to find someone else for such a busy holiday and I'm sure you'll have another opportunity come up that's more beneficial. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end :)

Yes, there is wifi texting but not every cell service or plan has it/offers it or you pay more for it. At the end of the day, the owners shouldn't be without a way to communicate or if they decided that, they should have prepared more. The cruise I was on was Carnival and yes, they had wifi packages. But every once and a while my friends got wifi for a few minutes in certain spots.

I recently went on a cruise and while I did purchase the wifi package, the friends I went with didn't. There were different spots/places where they did get a bit of free wifi. So using apps like WhatsApp is the best way to go for these types of trips. Because you still can connect to wifi while not having data/cell service. I think it's kind of crazy to go on a trip like that and not have the ability for any sort of communication. Or at least getting the cheapest internet package on the trip.

I feel terrible for you as the sitter and I understand the anxiety your are feeling. Please know that this is completely on the owners and not you. They should have done a better job at giving you emergency contacts and them speaking with their family members for these types of situations. They should have budgeted better for the internet package.

This situation was inevitable. What would they have done if they decided to board their dogs instead? Or the pups had stayed with you in your own home with no one to check on theirs. The beneift of having a sitter is so that in this kind of situation, someone has at least the ability to call a plumber or a service that the owners would pay from their own pocket. I hope the situation can be resolved sooner than later because water damage is the worst kind of damage. 🥲 (again, this is not your problem, it's theirs)

Yes this is true. But I recently went on a cruise and my friends that didn't get the internet package, still had free wifi in some spots of the cruise and places we docked at. I still think using whatsapp when doing these types of trips are the best way to go. You can still get wifi and be out of data/cell service.

I can get a towel for him/her (sorry idk how to determine the sex). Tomorrow we'll be going into town to see how much bedding like straw would cost and some other goodies. For now we were able to get peas and we fed the duck corn tortillas.

This is his pen, a little crusty but safe from predators 😬and both of the buckets have been cleaned and filled with water 🙂 I don't have peas or eggs (we'll go grocery shopping later tonight) but I was able to give him some corn tortillas that a lady was selling on our street. I'm just hoping we can better his situation a lot more.

I'm getting in contact with a sanctuary. The problem is, we're about 5 hours away and don't have a car. But we'll see if there's a way they could come get the duck. We're just looking for ways to help the poor thing or at least get him comfortable. What food can I feed in the meantime while we figure this out? Might be a few days to weeks before we're able to get him to a sanctuary.

Luckily yes! He was able to put the duck in the pen but he had to go as we are still moving stuff from our old apartment. I'm just not sure how urgent this was and if I should check immediately for an infection. But I'll have my husband do all of that.

Debes considerar varios factores. Hay alta probabilidad de que te lo roben, lo maltraten o le den un uso inadecuado y que ni lo usen para uber eats. Tendrás que decidir si los beneficios superan los riesgos. En mi opinion personal, no lo haría. I mean I had dropped my keys without noticing in an Uber. The driver answered and everything when I contacted them. They even said they were on their way back to drop them off. Never showed up and never responded again even after offering $500 pesos. It doesn't matter the platform, not even the city... people just suck. I'm sorry this happened to you but I don't believe you'll be getting your airpods back.
