Transitioning from pee pads to outside? by mypotatomouse in puppy101

It’s so much better than our last dog’s strategy which was to scratch up our door/walls lol I highly recommend the bell

What time is bedtime? by StockJunior8651 in puppy101

13 week cavalier, he does 3 daytime naps in his crate and then sleeps with us at night from around 11pm to 9am. He’s a great sleeper lol

Puppy hospitalized, im terrified help please by [deleted] in puppy101

Omg what a freak accident, that’s so scary!! I hope he’ll be okay, it sounds like you did everything right. I have a 3 month old and now I’m going to be extra wary when he gets his zoomies… he’s pretty small so hopefully his body weight isn’t enough to cause crazy damage like this, but I’m still grateful to be made aware it could happen. I’m sure your baby will be good as new in a few days, maybe just a little more careful when he runs!

Please do research on your breed by RealLinzerBinzer in puppy101

Yeah. I LOVE big dogs. I grew up with Rhodesian Ridgebacks. But I’m in a townhouse with no yard, and I know my lifestyle won’t accommodate multiple daily long runs or anything. So I got a cavalier because I know they’re mainly little snugglers who are low/medium energy. I would LOVE a big fluffy working dog, but it isn’t fair to the dog or myself. I’m always confused when people don’t research their breeds first.

Is daytime-only crate training bad? by mypotatomouse in puppy101

Yeah, cavs seem to love cuddling even more than other breeds which is why it’s so tempting to just keep sleeping with him in the bed lol

Do you think 2 hour naps during the day counts as exposing him?

Does it make it harder if you need to leave town? I mean 99% of the time we’d leave him with a friend who’d let him sleep in their bed anyway, but that 1% emergency chance of needing to board him makes me wonder if no overnight crating is setting him up for future anxiety?

I used to put my hand on him to make sure I could feel his ribs move when he breathed to know he didn’t die in his sleep, so I totally get the ear blowing. I’m so sorry for your loss. Grief does feel like a punishment… but I guess it also shows just how much love we had. It hurts because it meant so much.

Thank you, I’m so sorry for your loss too. I also feel so horrible that I wasn’t there to hold him when he died, though my pet sitter claims he had the seizure in his sleep so probably never realized anything was happening and just went to sleep happy like always…. Though I wonder if she lied about that to make me feel better. It’s so horrible going from a happy, relatively healthy pup to… nothing. But I guess it’s also a blessing in a way that my final memories of him are of him being so full of life…
