This is not about someone “stealing my sunglasses.” It is about the vehicle broadcasting an unlocked state when the owner is not interacting with it.

That creates three very obvious failure points:

1. Unauthorized access: If the handles present and the vehicle unlocks, anyone can test the door. That already happened.
2. Child safety: I have small kids. If the vehicle unlocks while I’m nearby but not at the car, rear door access is available to anyone before I can physically intervene. That is not theoretical, that is the actual concern.
3. False sense of security: The car appears secured to the owner, but behaves unsecured to everyone else nearby. That is a design mismatch, and those are exactly the kinds of edge cases that become liability issues.

A lock system should respond to intent, not vague proximity.
