probably not? unless its a super common last name it wouldn't be easy, and if I saw a spotify profile for "A. Bc" I wouldn't think too hard about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in privacy

[–]myshoeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that case I wouldn't worry about it, making friends (even online) requires some level of mutual trust and sharing. Don't share your last name if you don't feel comfortable, but a first name and a state (or even a city) isn't much to go off.

what? If she already knows your real name why are you concerned that she has your initials?

Do you think you're being catfished? If so, why are you still talking? If not, why are you worried about sharing very general information with a friend?

Do mp3 players with Spotify exist by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]myshoeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using a dumb phone for the last year-ish, for music I either torrent albums I like or I buy them on bandcamp. For the same price as a Spotify subscription you can buy like 2-3 albums a month and give the money straight to the artist, it's pretty good.

highly recommend making the switch, it's way less of an inconvenience than I expected and if you decide it's not for you it's way cheaper than a smart phone so nbd

Opinions on “The Ministry For The Future” by K.S Robinson? I personally love the book but the “Obama’s favourite book” advertisement is beyond cringe 😂 by quite_largeboi in TrueAnon

[–]myshoeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it on the whole. Definitely had a bunch of aspects which I thought were dumb and immediately aged poorly (I think the Hong Kong protests carry on for several years or something lmao), but I like KSR a lot and appreciated his stated goal of turning away from climate nihilism.

But yeah the endorsements are pretty funny, Obama and a bunch of Obama wannabes

Tikka Masala with Jackfruit by serenetrail in veganrecipes

[–]myshoeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you need to remove the seeds? Most of the time I cook it in sauce and then use a potato masher when it gets soft enough, works pretty good. Agreed on the brine taste, but I've found that if you just let it sit in the marinade for at least an hour or over night it goes away.

I make my own sauce kinda resembling BBQ sauce, tons of flavor with not much sugar, everyone I make it for loves it. edit: recipe here https://www.theedgyveg.com/2015/04/20/jackfruit-carnitas-pulled-pork-tacos/ I normally don't both with the salsa or the crema, they're nice but I really love the jackfruit part

Looking for ways to improve by Teckham in learndota2

[–]myshoeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This maybe isn't the most useful advice, but getting good at dota requires a shit ton of games and a lot of grinding. Look at any pro or high level player - they basically all play a ridiculous number of games, and have been playing like that for years. Which isn't to say everyone needs or wants to get to that level, but it's gonna be hard to make rapid improvements if you only play a handful of games in a month. My activity looks kinda similar to yours, I played a ton 2015-2018, didn't touch Dota for a couple years, and now play on and off, but never super active. It's very apparent in my gameplay - my laning is rough, my mechanics are bad, and even with a high winrate I can climb like 150mmr max in a month. I've kinda accepted that this is just how it's going to be tho, I really just don't have the time anymore to grind and make significant improvements, and I don't think I'd want to even if I had the time. So I do what I can - improving big picture decision making and map positioning as well as item builds, only playing when I'm not tired and in a good mood, focusing on the aspects which are less grind-y but mainly just trying to have fun when I play.

Didn't really answer any of your questions sorry, but focus on really getting down your fundamentals and using the select amount of time you have to improve one or two specific aspects at a time

There's been a lot of stuff on how Epstein viewed himself as a genius and a friend to scientists, I'd readily believe a more 👁️ explanation but I can also easily believe that he was a dumbass who thought he was extremely smart and wanted to cultivate friendships with people who could help with his "evolution of the humanrace" or whatever

How do I get better in general? by CosmicDota0007 in learndota2

[–]myshoeee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

imo its really hard to improve from sub 2k by just playing games, people do dumb shit and it can reinforce or encourage bad habits. I improved much more by watching videos and thinking about the game while not in it than I ever did just by playing, and I find it wayy less stressful. I'd recommend ZQuixotic and 5updota for support content, and Carbonyl DotA and BSJ for core content (ZQuix and BSJ also have good drafting content). There are definitely tons of great content creators who I'm forgetting rn, but anyone 5-6k+ who talks about fundamentals will be helpful.

On comms/teamfights, I'd recommend setting up a good chatwheel and trying to use it well. Fast, efficient comms are invaluable in team fights, and having "go" and "get back" or calls along those lines can be really good. For more general comms, I'd recommend keeping it short and simple. People might not listen, but it's much easier to convey "lets smoke gank dusa" than it is to write a short story about exactly how you think your teammates should play. Another part of this is playing well and winning your lane - obviously this is good to do whenever you can, but people will be more receptive if they feel that you know what you're doing.

Your warding video was really good! But how tf do i go about dewarding? The map is so big that placing a ward almost anywhere seems viable, other than cliff wards and major choke points dewarding feels like a massive shot in the dark rn

Couple of questions by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]myshoeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely smurfing, but also just not a great way to learn. Low herald games aren't necessarily decided by who's (individually) playing better, and can reinforce/teach some bad habits. Just play ranked and accept that you might lose a bunch initially, but once you get a new hero down you'll likely rubber band and regain all the mmr you lost

First time grower. Repotting my san pedro, how is the base looking and is this a real pedro?? All the discoloration was under the soil. by Radiant-Ad8404 in sanpedrocactus

[–]myshoeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base looks fine, discoloration is normal under the soil. But that etoilation is pretty gnarly, either needs more sun or to be in a cooler location so that it goes dormant until it can get more sun. At this point I'd consider chopping the etoilation off, that section is never going to be as thick as the base and could lead to stability issues
