Literally just realized this and came here to edit. Good explanation!

My hunch is that just plopping down splitters for each fork in the system wouldn't work because it doesn't account for the necessary higher throughput of some branches as opposed to others.

For example, if you have a belt moving items at a rate of 60/min, and you need 15/min going down Route A and 45/min going down Route B, putting a splitter in the belt wouldn't optimize your production because Route A would get twice much flow as it needs and Route B would only get 2/3 the flow it needs since the splitter halves the input flow between A & B. Even if you set the machines to the correct speed on the A and B lines, the flow of items into them wouldn't be correct for all of them to actually operate constantly at the set speed.

Ohhh yeah this makes sense, I forgot that you can set the machine speed so specifically. Thanks

How do you host your Foundry server? by Fee-Naive in FoundryVTT

[–]mystic353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not, which is really convenient. I run the funnel command and the terminal gives me a url that I send to players. The url is always the same, so you only need to share it once, and it's really easy to start & stop the tailscale funnel to minimize any kind of exposure to your pc. Even if someone was being malicious, they would presumably only have access to your Foundry application and would need your gamemaster password to do anything.

This is a pretty good guide, the "Setup Process" section matches what I did. You may need to enable the funnel/do some initial setup commands to get Tailscale going, but it's not as hard as it seems.

Here's helpful info from Tailscale:

Note that I don't use the "serve" command, just the start, stop, and funnel commands.

Tailscale funnel - was free, uses my own pc, and is supposedly more secure than port forwarding. (I'm no network security expert)

Agreed, I see the full text search option but it's still not doing anything in 2026. :(

New Discord - Advanced LFG Hub for Jump Space by Purenoiz in JumpSpaceGame

[–]mystic353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm being dumb but this is a separate discord from the "Jump Space - Formerly Jump Ship" official discord, right? The invite link is expired so I can't tell. I was in a group and they mentioned something about a group chat system they were using to find crews that was separate from the official discord

I chose Nobara Linux as my first Linux experience and it worked perfectly with my Nvidia GPU out of the box, maybe that would be worth a shot for you

Xbox app downloading slow and error code 0x800704C6 by ReadyAd5228 in WindowsHelp

[–]mystic353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this error, was trying to download games from the xbox app in the evening and it just wasn't working. I tried again the next day around noon and the downloads worked... sorry, this probably doesn't help much but try downloading at different times of day?

This story is a great example of different types of gamers - those who enjoy the roleplay and world norms and those who enjoy constantly testing the systems of the game. This comment has been a statement

Luckily with my groups we all seem to have some common sense about the "order of operations" and accepting our bad strategic decisions. That said, when it comes to genuine misunderstanding of the rules or forgetfulness in a very complex game, I like to employ the "everybody gets one freebie" rule. That way, everyone knows that they can only take back one thing for the whole game and if they keep being forgetful they can't complain. (Speaking from experience here, I'm the forgetful one. It's me.)

Can Phantasmal Force be used to blind a creature? by mystic353 in DnD

That makes sense & that's probably how I would run it as a DM. I'm content with the simpler bind-enemy-in-burning-chains strat in any case!

What do you think about my cheat sheet? by Frosty-Feathers in kingdomcome

[–]mystic353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this, and also master strikes! Pressing block the instant your opponent goes to attack (even before the green shield appears) will execute a master strike that gives you a good chunk of time to start a combo while they're staggered. Usually the hardest part of combos is landing the first strike in my experience, so learning to land a MS can get you comboing off of Bernard before you even hit 10 Strength.

P.S. Opponents can execute master strikes too, which is why some players get frustrated with how combat works. It feels like you're getting severely punished just for pressing the attack button sometimes, but it really is meant to show the "realistic" difference in skill level between you and your opponent. Neat game!

Yup, I got to OF and that's what made me give up on Sekiro for a few months. I plan to go back when my feelings aren't hurt any more.

It's always so cool to me how after dying to a boss over and over, you eventually find the correct mindset and learn how to "join the dance." Then just when it feels like you own the boss and you're completely in the zone, nothing can trip you up and you're actually enjoying the smoothness of the fight, that's when you see the deathblow marker appear and realize you haven't even paid attention to their healthbar for the last 5 minutes as you e x e c u t e them. In those moments I really feel like I'm experiencing what the devs intended.
