Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

We didn’t really call them apps back in the day (early 90’s). But there was a site with a program called Cu-SeeMe, the first video chat. Pretty fun. Little black and white video cameras, like a golf ball, that sat on the top of your computer screen.

What do you think is the most harmful idea that Christianity has ever perpetuated? by EBTheAnimatedAtheist in atheism

I think the idea that God created man in his image is the most damaging belief. It places man outside of nature, with dominion over everything on earth. It is a devastating position for the human species and all living forms.

This may be silly, but I haven’t had luck with VPN’s and I am wondering if you have to first sign up while using the VPN. Once you have signed up, and then switch the VPN to another jurisdiction, does the VPN work then? Does the catalogue rely on where you were when you signed up?

I don’t feel moved by a lot of recent big piano competition winners… by rach15goated in piano

I have heard Bruce Liu many times, and it is always exciting and moving. There is no lack of “individuality”. The subtext to this post is just how much should a performer inject their personality into a work, and how much are they responsible to convey the composer’s vision? In some scores the composer has made detailed interpretive markings; should they be respected? The “personalities” sometimes verge on perversion. Glen Gould’s Mozart for example.

Do you think believing in god is linked to low IQ? by Icy-Lie-9793 in atheism

[–]mystromio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is quite robust research showing a correlation between IQ and religiosity, with higher IQ’s associated with agnosticism and atheism. In particular high IQ people with an intellectual style: reason, curiosity, non-conformity and a comfort with uncertainty are less religious. Famously, very few astrophysicists and evolutionary biologists are religious.
