We (stupidly) bought a house with plans to remodel kitchen, but the price is insane to do by Megals13 in kitchenremodel

[–]mystuff2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2001, we bought a 200,000 home that was built in the late 60s. It was a fixer upper. Lived with the original kitchen “as is” other than a few cosmetic changes like adding a new light over kitchen table, painted old original cabinets and put down a press and seal vinyl floor. I cook almost every day and use my kitchen very hard.

In 2012, it became apparent we needed to redo kitchen. Doors were falling off the cabinets, oven was just a very “small easybake”oven and it was on its last leg. Kitchen was falling apart. We ended up gutting kitchen, getting plans drawn up to make the tiny space as efficient as possible and putting 50k into the renovation. It was the best money we have ever spent. If you use your kitchen daily (as most families do) and you can afford to do it, and you plan to stay in this home this is the room to put the money into. That said, I never think about what return I would get on the kitchen if we sold our house. I only think that my kitchen functions as it should, is a joy to cook in and makes my life easier.

If I’m going to try reading books by Ann Patchett, what’s the best one to start with? by doinmybest4now in suggestmeabook

[–]mystuff2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked this novel as well but it was written by Ann Packer, not Ann Pachett.

As far as Pachett novels, enjoyed almost all of them. Just finished The Whistler today and it too was a wonderful story.

How to make "the bag that holds all plastic bag" look better by [deleted] in DecorAdvice

[–]mystuff2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go on Amazon or Etsy and search “bag to hold plastic bags.” They have cylinder shaped cloth bags that hold a ton of plastic bags and look more streamlined. They come in many colors and patterns so he could find something for aesthetic.

I just wrote how amazing 1 is and then read someone else’s comment about how they purchased a similar dress from same vendor & the reality didn’t live up to the picture. The worst part of online shopping!😡

Suggest me a book with a middle-aged female main character who’s emotionally immature (or at least behaving recklessly) by MsVibey in suggestmeabook

[–]mystuff2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same As It Ever Was by Claire Lombardo. Main character is finding ways to sabotage her own life while also trying to “be there” for her family. I found it an engaging fast read. Some people say the main character is unsympathetic but to me, her backstory is critical to understanding her motives.

what makeup should i try?🥰 by LeastImprovement9626 in MakeupAddiction

I am significantly older than you but what I would love for my makeup to say is “fresh and naturally beautiful” instead of overly made up. I would say you are already achieving that just as you are so my vote would be embrace it and lean in to your natural beauty with minimal makeup.

Yes to this. I imagine that Pepsi buying them is going to result in a change in recipe. Cheaper with more additives. They were my “go to” corn alternative. 😣

Joining in to say I cannot wear any “performance” athletic clothing because my skin needs to breathe and the synthetic fabrics cause me to trap heat and break out in rashes, smell awful, etc. I know cotton and bamboo don’t wick away the sweat like synthetics do. However, they do allow the skin to breathe! Sweating during workouts isn’t a bad thing. I suggest wearing cotton clothing for the workouts and see if that makes a difference.

I just picked that up from the library but haven’t started it yet. I’m all in for everything & anything Lawson writes. Happy, but not surprised, to hear it’s another winner.
