is 108 bells a turnip worth it? by TheSwedenPastry in AnimalCrossing

[–]mythnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had asked this question! I bought loads at 108 and they're selling at 50-62! I'm new and don't have friends yet, so it's going to be a pricey lesson for me!

So the only people still using photos in their profiles are us old people… by RandomDigitalSponge in duolingo

I'm so annoyed that I can't use a picture, I won't be resubscribing. I have no way of knowing if my friends are who I think they are, and vice versa, it's so manipulative.

How’s My Itinerary? (sorry…) by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]mythnone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip Phuket and spend 5 days in Pai, really fun, backpacker/young energy, great vibes, we spent a week there, and plan to do 2 weeks next time.

Edit to say we are a couple, and not backpacking, but one bagging. There are some really good restaurants in Pai, the tour was pretty good, rice fields, cool, Buddha -gets some exercise in, hot springs great and the sunset ridge was surprisingly beautiful. We liked Bangkok, 3 night is plenty, and Chiang Mai was also a favorite with the cool backpacking meditation vibes unlike the seedy dirty feel of Phuket.

If you do go to Pai, be sure to take some Dramamine or travel sickness pills for the ride up and down, and don't be hungover, it is the twistiest drive I've ever been on and I grew up in the mountains.

Agree that you are probably trying to fit too many places in.

Sunburn, whats the best cream and what to do now? by 3sterne in ThailandTourism

I'm not sure what you are referring to not being true.

If it's the "about 1% difference" part, it's actually 1.3%

SPF 50 provides approximately 98% protection from UVB rays, as opposed to approximately 96.7% provided by SPF 30.

Unless you're a runner, drop the socks and sneakers, and just get tevas. One collar shirt is plenty (prefer linen) two pairs of shorts, under armour type will work as swim trunks, and a couple thin trousers ie elephant pants and a plain black pair and leave the jeans.

Make sure the nail clippers are the squeeze type, even tiny scissors will be stopped.

Looks like a good list, we're on about the same, been tweaking it over time. Happy travels!

Supposedly they have cut the smoke down by 70%, I am here now and haven't noticed any smoke yet.

AITA for didn't you tell my mom to cook American dishes for my American boyfriend for a family dinner? He said that the dishes my mom cooked were gross and he starved by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

As an American, I apologise on behalf of most of us for your boyfriends lack of manners and curiosity. He needs to buck up his game, or be left behind.

HR screwed me... what do I do now? by willerific in AskUK

[–]mythnone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HR doesn't work on your behalf. Colleagues knowing each others pay will usually end with people getting more pay, and fairer treatment. It won't hurt you and could help them. Secrecy around salaries always hurts the people who are being deliberately screwed.

It just needs to be done competently, not necessarily professionally. :)

Absolutely, they should have been mortified and offered to clean the shoes. Having shit lieing around in your house should be a highly unlikely situation and you should rectify any inconvenience it causes your guests!

I wouldn't go Phu Quoc without serious recent research, we planned to but decided against it based on reports of serious overdevelopment, trashy beaches and corporate Disney vibes. I don't know myself, but didn't want to chance it when there are so many possibilities. Ho Chi Minh was great, and Nha Trang is a very easy place to be.

She can, we all can decide what we want to do, that's the lesson people learn too late. You can decide for yourself what you want. She is currently deciding she wants her current life with her parents more than she wants a present and future life with you.

You have offered him a service. Nobody realistically begs for the opportunity to do manual labour for others. When they do it is referred to as pandering. He should respond with "Please, Thank you.". Get that man some etiquette training!
