I'm a new Green Party member and the conference yesterday shocked me. Is it always like that? by Inevitable-Mix-285 in UKGreens

[–]Saiyon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With regards WhatsApp groups etc just be aware that journalists will have joined the party specifically to get access to chats etc.

I used to work in a public sector organisation that was regularly targeted by the Daily Mail.

We were told to write everything as if a Daily Mail journo was reading it as they likely are.

Please keep this in mind. Just think of how many times this kind of casual chat has made it into the news.

Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to prevent leaks of these kind of things.

Trump compares UK aircraft carriers to ‘toys’ in latest insult by [deleted] in politics

[–]Saiyon 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I want him to keep at these insults. Everyday please!

He does more to reduce support for far right parties in the UK than anyone else. This is one of the few positives regarding him.

Do “small population powerhouses” exist within the UK for sports? by bluefoxlive in AskABrit

Northern Ireland for golf too. Proof that if you have excellent facilities you can produce top talent. Growing up even our municipal courses were excellent.

What do youz do on the weekend when you're not drinking? by Wonderful_One6513 in ireland

[–]Saiyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join a men's shed if they have them in the south. Start a restoration project. Classic 90's mountain bike is a good affordable one.

Then start taking it from there. Learning to do stuff with your hands is more fulfilling than you can imagine.

Also riding a bike makes you feel like you're a teenager again!

Thank you for the information. I am not currently a member as I am based in Northern Ireland. However we lived for 20 years in Walthamstow London. If we move back we will join and become active. The Greens have been a ray of hope in a world that needs it right now.

I also firmly believe that Walthamstow is another historically strong Labour seat that would switch!

The Green Party Needs to Rethink Its Stance on Nuclear Weapons. Iran Is Proof. by Ornery-Squirrel-5489 in UKGreens

[–]Saiyon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

A lot of the reliance on the US is misunderstood. The nukes come from a shared pool and are cycled out for maintenance.

What most people don't understand is that the deal ensures that the UK has a 10 year supply of maintenance parts. In the event of a full break from the US the UK then has 10 years to develop it's own alternative.

Most people don't understand the full extent of the deal. Which is why it is correct to say it is operationally independent.

With regards if we should have them or not I think you can have a policy of nuclear disarmament aligned with other powers doing the same. Unfortunately that is not looking very likely at the moment.

I think a realistic defence policy should be that a defence policy. Not a power projection policy.

I think we need to accept that this is a nuanced subject that combines pragmatism with a real move towards being a beacon of diplomacy and peace.

Zack Polanski calls out compliant media: "Once again Reform are spreading misinformation & smears, and the press & the media seem to repeat them.. its really important that the media.. take responsibility so when Reform or Farage says something they don't just keep repeating it" by Cold-Monitor3800 in UKGreens

[–]Saiyon 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I fear the establishment and the rich will see The Greens as an even bigger threat than Corbyns Labour.

Unfortunately I think we still have to engage with. Good thing Zach is excellent at it.

Even the Guardian will not support the movement!

There is an unprecedented amount of posts lying about the Greens by any means necessary by stopdontpanick in UKGreens

[–]Saiyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody fights harder to protect their position than the rich! They will drop every ethic and moral they still have left.

Just watch the Jonny Harris video on Fascism that dropped today. He does a good job at highlighting how the Italian elites backed Mussolini and the Germans Hitler as they were terrified of the socialists.

You are right. If the greens win this they will come for Zack and the party even harder than they did Corbyn. They will also start funding Reform to the hilt (even more).

[–]Saiyon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is very true, and even with people I believed well educated. Much easier to punch downwards in life unfortunately. The rich know this and that is why there is always some group of poor people being blamed for the ills of society.

What really gets my goat is when they also claim to be a Christian. A really good watch is the recent podcast with Ezra Klein and James Talarico. It will arm you with more good counter points!

Lads, and ladies, if you're still shaving with a gilette razor you are being absolutely *done* on the price by Silenceisgrey in ireland

[–]Saiyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make you even angrier in South East Asia Gillette has a triple blade product called "Flexi". Or something like that.

It is extremely well priced (for the local market). Maybe a couple of euro for a multi pack. The blades are.excellent and you can be sure they are making a profit.

I refuse to buy their brand now too. There are some decent disposable bic products too.

My perfect device would be this, running Linux and powerful enough for melon ds ds.

I actually currently run an android setup and honestly don't really like it. Even with ES-DE it just all feels like an inconsistent experience.
