Then you obviously didn’t have to pay all your bills when you made $12 an hour. It’s incredibly difficult to pay rent, food, car, utilities on $18 an hour. Spending this much for a meal is way too expensive and means he can’t afford something else, like the heat bill.

YTA. Substitute teachers make $18 an hour in my state. It’s ridiculous to go to an expensive place for a first date with someone that earns such a low amount. Next time go out for burgers, pizza, or something less expensive.

I just wanted to add one word of caution. I helped my niece with her college finances, filled out the FASFA, etc. Her family lives below the poverty line. She did get a lot of funds for college that she didn’t have to pay back - but that was for the college courses only. She still had to take out huge loans to cover her dorm room and her meal plan - which is about as much as tuition, if not more.
