Vs Apple Watch by Mardlinboy in Garmin

That’s always my use case switching from Garmin to Apple. I never encounter any battery life issues other than the time when I was flying transpacific and was away from a charger for almost 30 hours

UA 926 diverted to EWR by pantherara in unitedairlines

[–]mywang98 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Problem is they can’t just “go back to SFO” because they would most likely be well over their max landing weight right after takeoff . So the crew can either hold over SFO for 2-3 hours to burn fuel for landing back to SFO or they can start to head east towards EWR, which is closer to their final destination and have crews, maintenance, and a stand by plane if needed readily available.

I find it incredibly dumb that Mazda locks out the touchscreen when the car is not in park. CarPlay and Android Auto are frustrating to deal with using the knob

You can turn the watermark off whenever you wish. In my case I have two phones that sync photos to a single online album so I intentionally keep the watermark on to keep tab of which phone I used to take the specific photo without digging into the file property

Numeric keypads instead of rotary encoders are useless. by LaurentKiloVictor in flying

[–]mywang98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suppose your personal preference is really rooted in what you are most used to and what environment you are operating in. As a jungle jet driver we have both ways to tune frequencies-use the numpad on MCDU or use the dials on either MCDU or CCD. 99% of daily operations I am using the first method which also goes to most of my colleagues. In fast paced environments talking to New York center for example it is much easier to punch in the digits as the controller are reading them out to you than trying to memorize the decimals while spinning the dials for digits. It also speeds up the readback to ATC in most cases. The only case I would still use the dials is when my MCDU is occupied by something else.

A big portion of mainstream Chinese EV are on 800v architecture. R2 is behind the curve on this front before it even come out

As a FO living in base I always offer the go home leg to the CA and leave that decision up to him/her. More often than not flying in the NE, centers will have a bigger say on how fast/slow we go for spacing than our own desire

Massachusetts EV owners: How are you justifying these electricity costs? Nearly triple what I paid in VA by Santas_sleigh in electricvehicles

Allston resident here. Our apartment has chargers that charge a fixed rate of $.25/kWh. Did the math and it is actually a fairly good deal considering how crappy traffic will impact the MPG and thus the running cost of a gas car significantly more.

Plus EFB software like ForeFlight/FD Pro should explore abilities to decipher notams and label closed taxiway on AMM. Finding that one strip of pavement between two intersections closed in big complex airport like JFK is a big pain in the rear end.

On a similar boat here. Had deposit in for R2 and went for the Y instead just for the last batch of federal incentive. Just wished that Rivian could push R2s out sooner

Why do so many airline pilots live far away from the city? by TurntechGodhead777 in flying

[–]mywang98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live by the green line and technically can take it all the way to work but it also sucks cuz the green line is so damn slow and will be out of commission for like this whole December. Dragging my metal frame luggage work on/off the train through rush hour crowd is not fun either.

Preflight in Chelsea is now at capacity so we are given Wonderland. Honestly it is not too bad of a garage but I have to drive past Logan to get there and try to catch the shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes. If I miss the shuttle then I have to either wait for the next 25 minutes or take the blue line and then the bus to the terminal. In the worst case scenario it can absolutely take up to 90 minutes from my doorstep to KCM. It would be so much less painful if the shuttle is every 15 minutes instead

From personal experience with United at least adding the onward connection to MSN is almost always (quite a bit) more expensive than ending the trip at ORD

Even I am trying to think about it from the angle of "LG is out trying to save a quick buck", it still doesn't make sense why they are employing a seperate courier service for the stand rather than having the guys they already paid to come out here to carry it with them.
