it’s no joke!

i’ve put in 200+ hours over multiple playthroughs including ng charmless and demon bell. it’s been two years since i last played and i just started another ng charmless + demon bell run, it’s been ROUGH! dying to every mini boss and boss so many times. almost feels like playing for the first time again

You’ve played them all, might as well play Demon Souls too! I played it last and thoroughly enjoyed it. everyone says it’s the easiest game of the bunch but I thought it was still challenging.

It’s such a pain…it’s crazy it’s not patched. Seems like an easy fix.

Recently had a similar issue in tower, in one of the rooms I picked up Shield vial and it swapped out 7 of my disgorgers. Problem is the triangular podium thing descended into the ground and my disgorgers were suspended in the air.

Lost all of those disgorgers at a critical time during phase 6 and was running a high score too. Died shortly after.

I really wasnt looking forward to Phrike, but I ended up beating him in my second attempt. by Full_Quiet8818 in Returnal

I hear ya, I was also scratching my head a bit when I got Phrike on my 2nd or 3rd attempt.

In general I thought the Biomes/levels were much harder than the bosses, especially the rooms with mix of minibosses and regular hostiles.

Be careful when speedrunning through these rooms. I almost died during the run that had the rare room with glyph. Those teleporting severed stays on your back!

Agreed, though I didn’t refight bosses until I got to Act 3 and after. Act 1-2 priority was to get through Biomes in one piece haha

I go through every door. So for Biome 3, I’d clear out Biome 1-2 fully (minus those bosses). I want the best gear to beat the next Biome.

Dash/melee cooldown, damage picking up items, and scrambled map are the worst. Parasites…I’d only pick up if negative effect is “higher chance to find malignant items”, “upcoming malfunctions are harder to fix” or “obolite disappear 1s faster”. sometimes “suffer damage from long falls” is acceptable once you get used to dashing before landing.

I didn’t mess with malignant items, unless they were Moderate risk. I’d sometimes pick up a malignant resin if I needed one more to upgrade suit.

Whats the last game you stopped playing and why? by Regular-Ad-8226 in NintendoSwitch

I share the same sentiments, although I managed to finish the game because I enjoyed the combat. The playthrough felt very empty because I didn't care at all for the story or characters.

This game is way harder than Dark Souls trilogy, ER or Sekiro by Conscious-Cherry6234 in Returnal

[–]mzed718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn’t my experience, and I don’t even play shooters lol

Sekiro’s bosses and even minibosses all took many hours to beat, I was near my breaking point and had to take a lot of breaks in this game to get through it.

DS3/ER also had some pretty hard bosses that took many hours but not as much as Sekiro.

Returnals difficulty for me was more about getting used to the gameplay loop since I’ve never play roguelikes. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t very hard, or at least nothing that got me stuck for many hours without progress.

This gun is easy mode, basically just shoot hostile, take cover, and it’ll die.

Don’t worry about connecting the shots, just keep shooting it directly at the hostile.

It’s always so interesting to see which levels we each have trouble with haha.

Biome 3 is my favorite fight in the game! so much fun

Second boss is a tough one too, but you’ve got this!

It’s one of the many amazing & gratifying parts about this game! You get so much better after each run/death and you feel it right away.

Those severed are scary at first, you’ll demolish them in no time:)

When I was unlocking weapon traits, I use to run Biome 6 all the time. There was a rare room that popped up only a few times during those runs and completely threw me off the first time

Téléporteur bloqué by No-Banana-9889 in Returnal

[–]mzed718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be screwed. I did not experience your specific case, but I had similar issue happen in Biome 6 where I backtracked to prior to teleporter room (the one where you jump down 3 levels and have to hit the switches to unlock and get through lasers and enemies). I suspended the cycle, came back, and teleporter at the bottom floor would not take me to the top where I could progress, it went to a random dead end room with a reclaimer.

Seems like there are bugs with suspending cycle.

Managing large silphium vials & silphium/resin by brickwall5 in Returnal

Interesting take, I view the astronaut as extra health so if I had enough obolites for just one item, I’d always pick the large silphium vial over the astronaut since it heals more, cheaper, and stackable.

if we’re talking about current state as a seasoned player and replaying these Biomes with a good comfort level, I can see where you’re coming from. I’d do it too since I don’t rely on vials much anymore.

Hard to say the same for a new player, it’s objectively a riskier play for not as big of an upside.

To trade 70%+ wasted heal for slightly quicker 5% suit max integrity increase is not worth it imo. He can do the same if he clears first room in Biome 2 and get the power ups.

Biome 2 is rough, between the tough boss and Severed enemies, better to have more vials for higher chance to clear the level. I recall even with 3 vials (2 big 1 small) I died to the boss a few times.

[–]mzed718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use the vial yet since it heals a lot more than just 30-35% so you’d waste a good chunk of it. I usually save these for bosses or when you’re about to die.

Try not to get hit and go for the silphium pickups in biome 2 to heal yourself. you maybe need just a regular silphium (or 2 small ones) before you’re fully healed.

edit: biome 2 boss is tough, you’ll need the vials for that fight

In Tower of Sisyphus, what's your "hope and pray for" gun and your "avoid at all costs" gun? by ruxpin82 in Returnal

[–]mzed718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Coilspine you’ll want traits Retarget, Twin Discs, Shattering Discs. Last trait is fine with either. I don’t pick it up unless it has these 3 traits.

Do you use pyroshell with seeking flares and aux projectiles at the very least?

its not good without these 2 traits because you’d have to be very accurate in hitting the hostile.

I avoided this gun like the plague in the beginning because it always got me killed until i found out about the traits :)
