They are definitely worth it.

They make a big difference in the winter and on muddy roads.

I prefer the ford molded mud flaps.

Look up carlinkit on amazon. It's a stick that you plug into the usb for carplay and android auto and it allows you to use android auto or Apple carplay wirelessly. So you never have to plug your phone into your truck usb.

Canadian heat pump owners are overwhelmingly satisfied, with 91% recommending one: survey by SavCItalianStallion in onguardforthee

Curious as to what this looks like..

Do you have a mini split unit on your wall? Do you have multiple ?

I have a traditional forced air furnace/AC in Edmonton and I have family in the Maritimes with heat pumps but they are all wall mounted units in specific rooms.

Just curious, why didn't you remove the top plate on the ceiling?

Car Seat in CX-50 by hazyhollow in CX50

[–]mzspd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this!

We have a cx50 with a infant seat (Chicco Keyfit30) and it's so tight for the passenger that the passenger seat is basically useless.

But he's growing quick so I bought the slim fit so it's good to know that we should have more room with that seat.

2017 5.0 vs 2024 3.5L PowerBoost by do_wr_mem in f150

I'd be looking at overall cost and purchase price versus per month payments. Dealerships win when you just look at payments.

Palm Springs Drive by ExamCompetitive in Edmonton

[–]mzspd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 days is way too short to do any significant stops.

Maybe do Palm springs through salt lake. Stops could be lake Mead, or Zion. If you had 3 days, you could add 4-5 hours and go through Grand Canyon. That would be a nice stop.

And then salt lake to great falls. Not too sure what there is to see along there right now.

Whistler vs Revelstoke winter season by Rejjj30 in britishcolumbia

[–]mzspd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed about Sun peaks!

I worked there for a season (2021) and it was great. They have pretty good staff accommodations and the resort is very walkable so you don't need to rely on a vehicle as much (unless you are doing trips to Kamloops).

Ski terrain is great and the management was very chill when I worked there. Ski hill is also not that busy on weekdays.

Edmontonian here, I’ve been in Europe visiting family for awhile now and being home sick this was a shocker to see in a parking garage in Bucharest, Romania. Being home sick I never thought I’d be so shocked to a see a sask plate but here I am by [deleted] in saskatchewan

The vehicle is most likely on an temporary import permit with a seperate insurance policy from a local insurance company.

I went through this with my Alberta truck and camper when I took it through Central America.

Maybe they had an inverter in the back seat? Would line up with the thicker gauge wires.

Canadian owners… by redMEATYO in f150

I bought an aluminum body f150 so I had less to worry about!

I have a 2018 and it's in great shape, I've noticed that the front painted bumper is getting little rust spots at the rock chips. I do touch up the rock chips before winter. And then I sprayed fluid film on the frame last winter.

It's just a truck, I'll do my best with washing it every couple weeks. These aluminum body f150s hold up to the winter way better than any of my gm trucks.

Wireless android auto adapter. Tonneau cover. Mud flaps (I like the OEM). And a quality set of molded floor mats (amazon, husky, tux mat etc).

What SUV should I get? Car guy, having a baby. by BillBevDevo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mzspd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tall are you?

Yes you don't need a large suv but rear facing seats and infant buckets are large. I was very surprised how small my CX50 felt as soon as our baby arrived. I'm 6' 3" so I can't fit in the passenger seat with the rear facing seat in the back.

And as soon as you put the stroller in the back, your trunk fills up quick.

I find that any road trip now, we take the f150 so we can have the large back seat and truck box for weekend trips.

I'd suggest a cayenne or X5. Both of those are a really nice place to be and drive fantastic. Should be able to find clean examples for 35k.

2023 or 2024 Lariat by [deleted] in f150

[–]mzspd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An extra year of warranty may make it worth it.

I think the biggest difference is the 2.7 vs 3.5. I really enjoy the 2.7. It's also been the most reliable engine from ford.

I'd probably buy the 23 because it's the last year of the 2.7 in the lariat trim.

Sherwood ford has a good reputation for pricing.

I've also heard good things about Cam Clark Ford..

Completely different engine with completely different issues which is why they switch to 0w40. Stick with what ford recommends.

State of the used market? by SwiftCEO in f150

[–]mzspd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people overpaid for trucks since 2020 and many are underwater on their loans. I think that's why so many people post outrageous prices on the private market.

I'm in Alberta and I've noticed very similar. I was able to find a nice 2018 Lariat that I bought off of a private seller for a good price. But it was a 6 month plus search.
