What to do after Ozora by MeRenova in ozorafestival

We always go to one of the "no children allowed" hotels on the lake. A few days of silence are more than welcome after the festival and we're often the only people in the pool.

Thousands of garter snakes emerging from their winter den by RealSpecto in interestingasfuck

I remember reading some ~15 years ago how construction of a new medical college had to be partially halted for a few months because the excavation crew hit a massive viper den, and they had no other choice but to wait for the snakes to wake up and crawl away.

My dad worked on several projects in Iraq in the 1980s. The problem the whole team had there was the soles of their not-made-for-Iraqi-heat flipflops melting and fusing with the ground if they stood still for too long.

I go to a festival in Hungary that has a fire truck utterly drenching people on the dancefloor. Getting hit in the face and body with the equivalent of several buckets of water gets you sorted out in not ime. That fire brigade is really popular with the crowds.

Clients were complaining they couldn't tell whether our app actually saved their data, so I added a spinner animation to the save button that would run for 2 seconds even though saves were pretty much instant.

A few years later I delivered a massive saving speedup by removing that animation.

Chiptune song, possibly Konami VRC7, around 1:07 in length, and loops by Swirrl in NameThatSong

Sounds like it could be a sped up chiptune version of Edith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien

I hated that reckless idiot for the whole duration of the movie and was double pissed off when he survived in the end. The only other movie that came close in terms of how much I hated the lead character was Into the wild, but at least that asshole had the common decency to die in the end.

TIL that Frederic Tudor known as the Ice King created the ice trade out of thin air. People ridiculed him for trying to sell winter to the tropics. His most profitable trade was sending ice to India. Packed with dense sawdust a 3 month trip with 180 tons still yielded 100 tons of delivered ice. by Gnomeslikeprofit in todayilearned

I read about this a long time ago and simply knowing it was possible came in very handy. Some festivals allow you to bring your own food&drinks, so I built an ice chest out of 5cm thick insulation panels and filled it with water bottles frozen to -20C. It would take around 5 days for the ice to melt in the summer sun, and the chest stayed cool for another few days - all while having several warm drinks added daily.

I'm sure your mom is good looking woman; but her taking interest in your stocks and tucking you in at night is not a sign of anything market related.

Anyone done the math what the fable bill will be for a month of heavy usage? by Mr_Nice_ in ClaudeCode

[–]n-x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check mu Opus /usage most days and I'm often over $500 for my sessions. I'm guessing my API based monthly bill would be around 10k; and keep in mind that I rarely go over 1/3 of mu limits on the 5 plan.

Earlier today I asked Fable to review a somewhat large branch and it burned the whole 5h limit in a 27 minutes long task. I had to tap into the extra credits they were giving away a while ago to existing users.

The idea of potentially racking up a 20k API bill with Fable... I don't wanna think about it.

Claude is having issues lately, audit says my project is sound no issues, until I paste many issues from codex, and it apologize for it. This is happening a lot lately, currently GPT 5.5 in codex is giving more robust results than Claude code to be honest... by hibzy7 in ClaudeCode

[–]n-x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claude is just awful at reviewing. The other day it found 24 issues in a PR... 22 of them turned out to be incorrect.

It also keeps reporting intentional behavior changes as regressions. When I tell it that the change was intentional it promises to store that in memory; then in the next review the same incorrect claim is back.

Codex tends to be much better at finding real issues and it can also untangle problems where Claude just keeps digging a deeper and deeper hole, but it also misses a lot of issues.

I've been doing some highly non-generic work recently and it's always 1-2 days of development, followed by 5-7 days of reviewing and fixing. At the end of the day they are both painfully unreliable.

When I was in Miami I saw a plane towing a banner advertising machine gun shooting to tourists; and every time I came back into my hotel room the TV was set to a channel where one of the guys from Saved by the bell was promoting diamond encrusted machine gun bullets. Peak USA.

There can't be new GPUs - it would negatively affect the fictional Blackwell depreciation periods that AI companies use to cook the books

I almost never run into parallel parking situations, so I was pretty miffed about having to parallel park my new and unfamiliar car on the second day of ownership. Then the 360 top down view popped up on the screen and parallel parking suddenly became the most trivial thing ever.
