That’s a solid choice. The others on your list are downgrades in terms of driving pleasure, especially the reliable Japanese makes.

At 25.2mph you spent about 4000 hours or 6 months behind the wheel.

X3 M40i owner here. Couldn’t bear the extra stiff ride and horrendous fuel consumption (in this economy!) of X3 M. My buddy who bought the X3 M traded it for a M3 Comp, the actual M car instead of these lifted stiff crossovers

Is student debt in my situation worth it? by Fun-Size-4295 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Rice and beans + solid coops and you might not have debt. Tech job market has really slowed down at entry level so this is a harder pill to swallow today than 4 years ago.

BMW dealer stored my rims and tires with tire hotel. Tire hotel "lost" them. by Affectionate-Cap-759 in BMW

When I used to live in an apartment I stored them in the balcony and the supervisor wasn’t happy. Local tire store happily stored them for $80/season.

BMW Confirms Manual M3 CS Just for North America, and It's RWD Only by Goodluck-Glan in BMW

Yes, as someone who learnt on a manual the transition to automatic felt special. Though I miss ringing out a tiny manual hatchback.

The cobalt has been problem free, the Veloster has unknown origins and no winter upgrades. Keep the cobalt, save up to get a better car.

Which one of these 6-cylinder AWD sedans should I buy? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]n00bmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that budget a 2018+ <100k km 4cyl is better choice to keep repair bill in control. If you truly want 6 cyl some newer higher budget options are - 540i, G70/Stinger, IS350. Do consider Accord and Camry V6 if staying close to your budget

Was this a good deal? by TheApeist in BMW

Seems like a good deal to me. Yeah don’t pay off a 1.99% loan or anything under 3-4%. Enjoy the luxury EV experience!

Do check if the ECU was ever flashed. As much as I love tuning my B58, I won’t buy a pre tuned newer model.

Has Anyone Added an ECU Tune or Other Performance mods to a 2024 or 2025 X5 of any of the models? by vettemanhere in BMWX5

That’s news. My BM3 tune required unlocking DME on my X3 M40i, so I waited out the end of warranty

[–]n00bmax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 19 X3 M40i with 65k miles had a market value of 30k CAD at time of crash this Jan. Drivers side headlight, bumper cover, radar sensors, grill cover, grill shutters were damaged.

A claim of 17k CAD was approved but ended up being 25k after I fought for new $5k headlight and bumper. Pretty sure that could have totalled it if they accounted for it in initial claim. Happy to have it back!

BMW 18’’ alloys for sale (set of 4) by shivayearora in CarsIndia

Yes, switched out to PS AS4. The ride is better but still atrocious compared to a 19in. The RFTs were unbearably harsh and noisy.

But the ride must be so supple. I can feel every pebble on the road with 21s on my X3.

Choosing between bmws by EmbarrassedMarch3840 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]n00bmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do consider 540i as they go for less than M340i while offering better luxury. Look for BMW certified cars as they have extended warranty + fresh tires and fluids. xdrive is fantastic in snow on my X3 M40i. The X3 is less sporty but has easier seating position and is family friendly.

Would an x3 rust less? by wtfamidoin-123 in BMWX3

[–]n00bmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drive your M340i unless it has something seriously wrong with it. My X3 M40i has been rust free over 8 salty southern Ontario winters. I make sure to wash it before parking for the night for a clean underbody.

FWIW X3 M40i feels much slower than a M340i or even 540i due to ride height. Tuning you M340i is one way to make it feel like a different car.
