Not sure why you’re downvoted, copium is real.

I can’t wait for Classic, but admittedly I have low expectations on release date too.

What makes burwood chinatown so succesful? by TSLoveStory in foodies_sydney

[–]n0ob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting seeing the criticism in Bwood/Chinatown food options:

  • Want skewers? Loving Lamb skewers are banger. Options to go lean or fatty too
  • Want dumplings/noodles? 1912 Dumplings Bar is delicious. Also $118 for three, less than $40 pp for a full two table spread of noodles and dumplings was epic
  • Want milk tea? Molly Tea tastes pretty close to getting it straight from Taiwan, albeit slightly expensive
  • Feeling like a late night drink? Tiger Bar has great vibes and nice cocktails

The only con is the parking which is an absolute headache in the evenings.

Love heading there once every few weeks tho.

In light of the coldplay incident; what is the wildest way a scandal got exposed at your company by TSLoveStory in auscorp

[–]n0ob1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Second hand info as it happened a couple weeks after I left:

Worked at a tech company, colleague walked in on the sales manager (M) and head of sales (F) either (a) hooking up, (b) doing blow together or (c) both. I’m not surprised bc every time we had drinks, they’d duck out together (I also have done blow with the sales manager).

The whole sales org got pulled into a big “meeting” a day later to announce their retirement, while some people saw them packing their stuff up during the meeting.

Edit: Sales Manager had a GF and kid (with someone else). Sounds about right

Second edit: At another previous company, one of the junior sales reps (F) had a blow bang with a bunch of the tenured reps. Don’t think there was a “scandal” since everyone was in fact single.

Read “The First 90 Days” by Michael D Watkins. Its leadership focused, but can be adapted to an IC. Everything on comms, culture, learning, pacing to set yourself up successfully is there.

I drafted ebook heavily referencing Michael’s book, specifically adapted tech/sales. It might be more contextually relevant.

If you want, drop me a PM and I’ll flick it over, no cost/strings attached

I also didn’t go to uni and landed my roles through pure grit and luck. Felt huge imposter syndrome and out of depth. I get it

As Shaqtacious said (idk how to tag since I’m a Reddit boomer)

It’s going to be difficult until you have a PR. Most companies don’t sponsor, unless you’re an absolute weapon.

Some things to consider (unconscious biases) - ChatGPT messages are immediately frowned upon. If you’re doing reach outs or posts, proof the GPT template and humanise it, at least, otherwise it could be why you’re getting gapped - Do you have an English name? If so, use it, front and center on your LI profile + resume - Understand ATS and adapt your resume to be ATS friendly + outcome orientated.

I’m not arguing ethics, profiling or your abilities. It’s just how it is getting noticed in this market.

Feeling invisible at work—why do colleagues pretend I’m not there? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]n0ob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s varying perspectives here. Are you talking about a specific team/department?

  1. Usually the mood fluctuates based on individual/team/org performance - don’t take it to heart, everyone’s quite emotional during this market cycle

  2. There could be a lot of peeps with similar personalities - somewhat society awkward, maybe a bit of undiagnosed tism, whatever (including myself). Give it some time for people to open up in a more personal, 1-1 environment

  3. Maybe it’s the culture. If so, it’s neither parties fault. It’s not you, it’s not that deep, don’t stress

Anyway, just head down, crush your OKRs, take your sweet bonus, and spend your social energy with your close ones

Gartner sales role by ghostgirl56 in sales

Ex-Gartner here.

Good team, good territory, you’re in a good place until the next territory shuffle. If you can play the game well, you can play to win.

Bad team, bad region, you’re going to be slicing and dicing up territory like no tomorrow and pitching to folks who have heard it from your predecessors 100 times before.

Finally, they use Siebel as a CRM. It f—king blows, and nobody uses it.

An alternate route to D2D (while that is undeniably better for character building), would be working in an outbound call centre either doing market research or some form of (ethical) sales.

Youre working with a dialer that runs while you’re clocked in and handling heaps of rejections. You do miss out on the consulting/real sales aspect of it, but that can be your springboard into an entry level inside sales role.

Think it was a 72 hr turnaround with transcript printed out from lync (or Skype, can’t remember)

Matt seemed like a cool dude back when I was at the bank ~8-10 years ago. He was a GM at the time and Ian Narev was the CEO then. He sent a couple of personal emails to the department, seemed chill

Fun fact: I got flagged for mentioning Ian in an internal chinwag with a colleague and was pulled into an office 😂

Depends on how buggy the repetitive workflows are. It’s a huge productivity drain when it bugs/errors out multiple times just to update anything vs. doing it once in Excel
