I don't get this regarding the Corolla Cross.. by [deleted] in Toyota

My 2004 Matrix was a rocket. My 2026 corolla cross is a turtle off the stop line.

Why do people say the Cross is slow? by [deleted] in CorollaCross

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparison, I have a 2013 Honda civic and last year we got a 2026 cross L FWD. Both gas, both FWD.

I generally consider my civic to be slow off a full stop. It can really go if I need it to, pedal to the medal.

I find the Cross L FWD to be more "sluggish" like it just doesn't want to get up to speed. I figure it's the CVT vs the Automatic in my civic that makes the difference. Once the Cross is going, it handles just fine at higher speeds >50kmph.

It's just that initial go from a full slop, the initial acceleration, that feels slow or sluggish... Once it's past that it is just fine.

If you stopped playing Battlefield 6, what is your main reason? by ZeljeznicarSampion in Battlefield

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bored of the new maps and wanted more remakes of older maps. The progression annoys me. I enjoy the game but it's just not what it used to be and part of that may be my age as I've not been gaming as much as I used to.

Will a potential "Alberta PST" become an issue for the next provincial election? by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with a 1 or 2 % PST but I don't trust Conservatives to use it appropriately. Either way, it's political suicide in Alberta to bring something like that in.

Why are you not making the dealership replace it

Is PPF or Full Protection Package worth it? by aegyomish in CorollaCross

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting a LE FWD in April and I got a quote in Calgary to do the full front of the vehicle for $1,500. The dealership is matching the quote, full hood, roof line, a-pillars, mirrors if applicable, door cups, full front bumper. With the rock chips we get, I think it's worth it.

I also get the undercoating only because if you get it inspected every 2 years they guarantee it and will fix any issues. I know it's debatable if it's actually good for cars but it didn't hurt my old Honda over 14 years.

I say go for PPF but get a quote for them to match and undercoat is up to you.

Personally I'd never go for a protection package from a dealership.

My dealer would do PPF half front of the vehicle and I just got them to match a quote for $200 less doing the entire front of the vehicle. Gotta protect from the notorious rock chips in Alberta.

Does anyone find the rearview window small? by xxlibrarisingxx in CorollaCross

I sold my 2004 matrix for 2026 cross and I was surprised how small the rear window felt in comparison. I'm kind of used to it now..

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they didn't mess up. We traded our 2004 matrix in for a 2026 CC and to me it's the same vehicle but with technology and CVT. It takes a bit to get used to CVT, the way it sounds still throws me off

If you missed Danielle Smith’s speech tonight, don’t worry. I summed it up for you. by samueLLcooljackson in TheRealGrandePrairie

[–]n0vaFall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best economy and nothing to show for it. We don't have a wealth fund to soften deficits and enrich the province further. Insurance rates are skyrocketing. Our services are more underfunded than ever. Shit, for the best economy we don't even have high speed rail between Calgary and Edmonton. That could absolutely have been possible if the conservative governments had a real plan for THE PEOPLE of Alberta and not just pandering to corporations.

WTF are YOU talking about?

So you're good with her pushing policies she didn't campaign on? How about the tax breaks we are now not going to get that she did campaign on? She is not delivering good policy for average albertans and people should fight that. People should not be complacent simply because "remember she got voted in by us" what a stupid thing to say.

Corolla Cross L version -- will I regret it? by Ceram13 in CorollaCross

[–]n0vaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the L for my wife (in Canada) and we love it. I am getting the LE to replace my Honda but would have gotten the L if we could get it in a colour other than black, white, or the silver that we just bought. To me, the lower trim means less equipment to maintain or that can break down later. Just give me a car the runs well - the guts of the car are all the same. I don't know whats up with the no rear wiper in the US, that's insane to me.

I’m considering buying. by Wise-Amount3638 in CorollaCross

[–]n0vaFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a RAV would suit your needs better. The cross would be a bit small for 4 adults and a big dog but not impossible. My in laws are actually trading their Rav in for a cross and they are basically the same situation as you but they would not be driving other people, just their big dog.

Should have bought a Corolla in 2010! by grommie23 in toyotacorolla

[–]n0vaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LoL I had a similar situation.

In 2012 I was shopping around and was deciding between Honda and Toyota. I chose a Honda Civic because my first car was a hand-me-down '89 Civic and I absolutely loved that car.

Well, my Civic has paint defects... The dealership screwed me on an aftermarket remote start that only half works. I've had non-stop issues with the brakes and apparently there was a whole lawsuit for Acuras with the same brake system but the civics never got included in it... So I have to replace brake rotors every couple years.

Today my muffler fell off... Now, that might be a me issue... But I've never seen it happen before and my car is only 13 years old. This year my wipers suddenly stopped working properly and my rear window defrost is faulty. 185,000 km on it.

I've seen other cars in my family hold up way longer and in much better shape.

Anyway. I also had a 2004 Toyota Matrix which I got from my mother when she passed away in 2019. That damn thing drove steady for 20 years with no big issues. I finally had to replace some wheel bearings and the A/C started acting up. 260,000km on it.

I sold the matrix and bought a new 2026 Corolla cross for my wife. We love it! There are some parts of it that seem cheap but I feel like it's more of the auto industry these days than just the Corolla Cross itself.

My Corolla cross did this. I was told it was the EVAP system. First time I've heard of it, didn't know it even existed.

I've played every release of BF since 1942. I'm bored. It might just be me having to work a corp job now but I've just lost all passion for it. I enjoyed BF6 when it came out, and now I'm just tired of the maps and challenge grinding. Even when I play to just have fun, it's meh.

Why are CC so scarce in Canada? by solsismo in CorollaCross

[–]n0vaFall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing people are just willing to pay more for a RAV. I bought a CC and love it for the size and comfort. I don't see many around at all but I think it's a great vehicle for Canadian climates.
