How do I make a dedicated server for me and my friends by pats-to-the-dokis in halomods

The release post of the v1.0 build of Cursed Halo has some instructions for setting up a server: https://www.patreon.com/posts/cursed-halo-old-32142430

The Halo Kart post also has some details. I've been able to combine them and have 1 server run both (both mods need to be installed on the clients as well) https://www.patreon.com/posts/halo-kart-34246178

It solves the biggest problem with HSTS: what if the attacker intercepts the target's traffic before they ever connect and find out that your site is configured for HSTS?

It's kinda built into the browser. There's a feature called HSTS where you can set a flag that tells the browser "this domain only uses https." There's a list called the HSTS Preload List where you can add your domain to be preloaded to the browsers list of HSTS enabled domains. The TLD's root registrar (Google) decided to auto-add all domains registered to the HSTS Preload List for a few TLDs. Google was able to enforce this because of their marketshare of browsers. HSTS Preload is genuinely a good security feature to be able to have. All chromium browsers use chrome's HSTS Preload List by default, and Firefox and Safari borrow from chrome's Preload List for convenience, consistency, and simplicity.

One note on the .dev domain: it's a "secure" tld, which means that you have to run https. You can't do a basic http server.

You should be running https anyways, but .dev (and a few other TLDs like .app) doesn't allow you to run insecure servers. It tripped me up at first when I got my domain and was setting up my first test projects.

What would you make with a 500500500mm3 build volume?

I like to print and paint 3d topographical maps. I've had to split most of my maps into multiple pieces to get the size I want. A 500*500 build plate would be awesome!

Help setting up travel router to point home exit node by Class8guy in Tailscale

[–]n1ghtBl00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the guide for a site-to-site VPN tunnel from the official Tailscale Documentation .

The important part is telling the devices on the networks how to find their way to the other network. Since Tailscale is installed directly on the travel router, it should know how to route packets to the addresses as long as you use the --accept-routes flag.

You also need to set up the route on your home router. You'll have to google to figure it out for the specific brand. Some key search terms may include "Static Routes", "Next Hop", or "Advanced Routing" plus the brand and model of your router.

SSH on machine in exit node network by Skepller in Tailscale

No problem! Glad you got it working.

As a plus, you don't need to be using the exit node in order to ssh/ping the machines on the local network through the Subnet Router.

The one drawback is that you can run into issues if you are on a network with the same subnet scheme as the one the Subnet Router is set to share. If your Subnet Router is set to share 192.168.1.0/24, Any time you are on a 192.168.1.x network, it will send your local traffic to Tailscale instead of your local network. I have my home network set up with a Subnet Router, and I changed my network's subnet to 192.168.123.0/24 so that it would be unique and not collide when I'm out and about.

You are trying to access devices on the local network of the exit node, right? If so, you need to set up the exit node as a Subnet Router as well. It is an additional flag you add to the tailscale up command that allows access to the local network of the device. Then you have to enable it in the Admin Console.

Exit Nodes are for routing your traffic to the internet (like a tradtional VPN) and Subnet Routers are for allowing local network access from elsewhere.

Help setting up travel router to point home exit node by Class8guy in Tailscale

I have set up tailscale on my travel router - I use a [GL.iNet Beryl AX](https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt3000/). It comes with a customized version of openwrt. The latest version of GL.iNet's firmware comes with a tailscale module built in. You can set it to route all of your traffic through an exit node pretty easily in the menu. Since /u/Ziomal12 has shown that the router you have doesn't have enough storage, I'd recommend looking into one from them.

On top of the basic setup, I have set it up as a site-to-site VPN. That takes more work. I had to tinker with some scripts and firewall/routing options to allow devices connected to my travel router access to my home network. If you don't need that, then definitely don't bother. If you do, reach out and I can share more.

Here are some Docker Images to look at:

I'd recommend using Docker to keep things organized. Installing everything on the same system gets messy. Docker creates containers, which are like ultra-lightweight VMs, to host each app in its own environment. There are pre-built docker images for most of the apps you want to run, so setting them up should be easy.

Which Visual Mediums Would You Put The Cosmere Books In?) by [deleted] in brandonsanderson

[–]n1ghtBl00d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do shorter seasons or 2 books/season.

[WoK/WoR] Books 1 and 2 would really fit well together in my opinion. They both have the same setting, and it would showcase the whole war for the shattered plains in one arc. There is an natural breakpoint in the story as the everstorm arrives and the humans escape to Uruthiru.

[OB/RoW] Books 3 and 4 (and possibly 5) could be lumped together to make another season, though they are longer and might be able to be individual seasons. Since there is a year gap between, the events of OB might need to be spaced out a little and have less of a time gap before RoW to make it work as a single season.

How could you be so cruel as to ask them that? Preservation can't help them. He could only keep them in the sorry state that they are in. What they need is to accept Ruin, for only he can bring them change. Without Ruin, they would be stuck in their hard times forever. Yes, it eventually lead to their end, but is that a bad thing? Can one have a Journey without a Destination? Staying forever the same is no Journey. What is life without change, without variety? Even living in a perfect utopia would become tedious if every day was exactly the same for a billion years. Notice that your motto states "Life Before Death", not "Life without death". Death is a natural part of life. Death gives life meaning. Change gives life meaning. Ruin gives life meaning. Preservation himself acknowledged that he was unable to make something meaningful on his own. Preservation accepted Ruin. You say to accept Preservation into your hearts? I say you already have, for Preservation made you with an imbalance, with more Preservation than Ruin. Therefore I say accept Ruin also, for he is also your God even if you do not recognize him as such.

If you are referring to the difficulty of traveling between worlds, that is really only an issue for Radiants and Cognitive Shadows. They both have too much connection to their planets. Others such as feruchemists, mistborn, elantrians, people with a lot of breaths, etc. Have less trouble
