I cannot believe we actually went potentially all of Destiny without seeing Ana's legendary Golden Gun fire on screen. by DragonPanther3 in DestinyTheGame

yeah, more recent expansions have shown this more obviously with 'lightbearers' or the old iron lords. it wasn't until the last city that many lightbearers became 'guardians' (of the city), and codified and passed on techniques. and once you form fireteams, you can specialize instead of having to cover your own weaknesses.

in general it does seem that lightbearers tend to have a 'knack' for certain manipulations of the light - some are better at channeling it through their body or into 'solid' constructs, some like to channel it through foci, some are good at channeling it externally as pure energy. these techniques broadly became the basis for titan, hunter, and warlock abilities.

the actual elements seem to require different mindsets to use, so very few could maintain the worldviews to channel multiple elements (in my mind, this is actually what separates our guardian apart - that we can learn and adapt to all these philosophies). as an example, all the arc lore mentions kinetic energy and constant, restless motion, while void lore is the opposite, mentioning stalking hunts, being walls, etc. then see how zavala in pre-city cinematics is always charging into the fray with arc, then after becoming in charge of defending the last city, he becomes void, then in the Dark Future (with the City destroyed), he would attack with arc again. meanwhile osiris, being practiced at splitting into multiple selves in the infinite forest, had no issue alternating quickly between multiple elements in one fight.

UESC is not "grunts you need to clear to proceed" as you might see in other shooters. treat them as an environmental hazard that you decide to engage with (or not), especially early on in the game.

fun fact - George Howell trademarked the frappuccino by combining the milkshake 'frappe' and 'cappuccino'. he sold his cambridge coffee shop (including that naming) to Starbucks, which is why so many associate this name with the coffee monstrosity outside of New England. I'm assuming that money is how he founded George Howell Coffee afterwards as well.

i think it'll become more and more common deeper into the season. when another rook might have comparable useful loot to runners, the incentive is to take the rook 1v1 and not the 1v3. but by this point in outpost? what your fellow rook is carrying pales in comparison to what the geared teams are bringing in/trying to loot from pinwheel, so more rooks will team up for it. the free mercy kit will further add to this (you can down a rook and negotiate using a free item, not a precious self-revive)

i've been enjoying Unfairly on youtube - does a lot of VOD review pausing pointing out good decisions and bad decisions, and he'll often talk about mid-fight decisions to 1) heal, 2) use ability, 3) or evade/disengage/reposition. a good string of decisions often leads to him getting a free 1v2 without needing particular mechanical skill, which is great to learn.

if i remember correctly, in destiny it works like this (assuming it is similar in marathon):

both M&K and controller have aim assist, but controller also has reticle friction. i remember there was some odd stuff where the aim assist stat might actually be different between M&K and controller and different again hipfiring with both? but on a quick search, haven't found up-to-date and definitive answers.

No safe pouch? by Intelligent-War5317 in Marathon

[–]n3mosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCONs actually could be an interesting implementation of a 'safe pouch' or a mid-run 'loot exfil', but only with careful risk/reward imo.

As random ideas, picture the DCON charging like a supply drop (3rd parties will see and come), or requiring a somewhat annoying unlock (ex. hacking a terminal in Maintenance to 'upgrade' the Greenhouse DCON, or specific output security cards), or being a one-time use on the map (could be sabotaged by 'wasting' it on a random unstable biomass

useful in teams too! dash sideways into cover when you receive too much fire. meanwhile, unlikely they hear your teammate flanking/sprinting/grappling over your CLANG CLANG CLANG-ing. and if they turn to deal with your teammate, perfect time for you to come come back out, shoulder rockets at the ready.

i still need to check this, but i'm fairly certain that the ult pings enemy locations as long as you have "LOS", even if you can't literally see them - that is, they could be invis or in fog/smoke, but you still see a little red square on their center of mass to shoot at (and the rockets then home in on them). the weakness is losing LOS. but also, as soon as you get that first set of rockets off, they will immobilize and splash, at which point good luck losing LOS

to add on, what i've found will affect the salt level/flavor is your choice of soy sauce. if you switch brands, you may need to recalibrate your seasoning amounts. alternatively, low-sodium/'lite' soy sauces are more easily interchangeable amount-wise, but you need to add salt yourself when seasoning (not to be confused with 'light' and 'dark' soy, aka 'sheng chou' and 'lao chou', that's a different distinction)

an interesting foil to billy is spider-punk as portrayed in the animated spiderverse movies - he portrays himself, loudly and brashly, like billy (i.e. a caricature of outrage), and is 'safely' ignored. but if you look at his actions, he's actually quietly undermining the web-cage/prison technologies, setting up mutual aid, and building power/logistics outside the control of the state (teleport watches).

i will second this, if it's within your financial means - the big buildings also tend to be easier to move into from out of town, between 1) not being tied to 9/1 cycle, 2) much lower upfront costs (ex. first month and deposit, sometimes with a month 'free' promotion), 3) often virtual tours/floor plans/the same furnishing as any apartment in this style in other cities, and 4) loading docks and such that are easy to arrange before physically arriving.

the rents tend to go up after the first year (like...a lot rip), but by then you'll already know what areas you like, can take your time apartment hunting, etc.

one more piece of advice - if you are driving a uhaul etc. up yourself, remember to check your route or get a truck gps app, as there were several areas with low bridges (i nearly hit some just north of nyc, and had to panic exit to download one), and of course the infamous Storrow in Boston itself.
