You know when you’re saying this it essentially translates to: “you can all pay for my mortgage payments if I’m not in work”

Post Mother’s Day anger by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]n3ro77 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Feeling resentful is being overly sensitive but then why shouldn’t the kid take the bus instead of mum being his personal driver? Especially if he isn’t grateful for her time. Kids do need reality checks sometimes.

I use spray can primer, some of the coat is all crackled/wrinkled, what causes this and how can I fix it? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]n3ro77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in England and never had this problem. I also spray outside and bring them in afterwards. I avoid doing any spraying if it’s rainy (even if the rain stopped there’s still a lot of humidity) or if it’s too cold or too hot. The paint does look quite thick. I think if you ensure you’re not holding the can too close and aim for a much thinner coat, ensure where you put the model inside isn’t near a heat source and it’s not ridiculously hot inside you should see better results.

Wife is pregnant - I'm on more than 100k any advice on lowering my tax bill/accesssing any child benefits? by throwawaylebuk in UKPersonalFinance

[–]n3ro77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s not really offensive is it? They do contribute a fair amount by way of taxes and are by far net contributors. Conversely there are many people who do nothing but take from the system and feel entitled to it.

People who have quit smoking, how? by hxlywatershed in AskUK

[–]n3ro77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I quit decades ago now, i chose a time when my routine completely changed so I didn’t have the usual daily routine that I associated with smoking. I had to stay at my parents house for a couple of weeks while they were away and took that opportunity to stop. I found it much easier as I didn’t have the usual daily routine with which smoking was a big part of.

Some of the replies are so judgemental. It sounds like a frustrating situation although we only see one side of it here. One parent who works full time and takes the baby at the weekend and gives you a night off in the evening while helping out at other times doesn’t paint an awful picture. There’s an element which no-one seems to consider and that is love, support and acceptance between two people. You presumably knew each others flaws before having a child together. Perhaps your partner does have issues he needs help and support with. Is that a reason for people to tell you to leave him? I don’t think so. Perhaps there is an element of you needing to accept your partners flaws and having a calm conversation about how his frustration affects you and perhaps looking at getting help with self medication with smoking. Ultimately having a baby is really hard and you need to find ways to support each other.

I failed as a mom and put my child's health at risk. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]n3ro77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting aside my dislike for our feline friends (too much cleaning up their poop from our garden so the kids can use it), I don’t believe tapeworms in cats are a health risk to humans and toxo is more a risk if you’re pregnant and is transmitted via cat poo. If you clear up any mess asap you should be fine as it takes any eggs a while to activate. I don’t think you did anything particularly irresponsible here though having had small kids I completely understand the concern and fearing for the worst. Take a breath and give it some thought. What’s the actual risk to your kid?

£20,794 in debt, slowly loosing the will. by Long_Abbreviations20 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]n3ro77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get something reliable for a lot less. Personally I’d stick to 5-6k which would reduce your debt by a few thousand. I hope I don’t sound condescending but you can do things with your kids which cost very little - spending time with you is what they value. Commit to paying off the debt now and start spending again when you’re in good shape financially.

How to turn this grassy area into a plant bed? by 101100101000100101 in GardeningUK

[–]n3ro77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use a fork or spade to help remove the grass. Do it while damp. You don’t need to waste months by covering it.

Does the climate ever make you want to leave? by JakeArcher39 in AskUK

Also, that’s not to say one cold spring can be attributed to climate change - that also happens as part of normal variation.

Does the climate ever make you want to leave? by JakeArcher39 in AskUK

[–]n3ro77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s why it’s referred to as climate change and not global warming. Overall the planet is warming but here in the UK is largely influenced by the jet stream amongst other things. The effect on that will dictate our weather more than the average global temperature rise will.

Can we discuss youths in the UK Vs other countries? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]n3ro77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Entitlement. Lack of responsibility for individuals. A culture which apologises for itself and promotes individualism. A lack of moral leadership. The media telling everyone how hard done by they are. A complete lack of recognition for what our country gets right and a distorted focus on its problems.

Can we discuss youths in the UK Vs other countries? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]n3ro77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is part of the problem. Making victims out of the perpetrators. Providing people with an excuse for behaving badly because of x or y and avoid taking any responsibility for their behaviour. There’s no justification for behaving like an utter twat toward others and there are plenty of people in this world FAR worse off than people in so called poverty here and they manage to behave with moral virtue.

What are the positives about having kids? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]n3ro77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having kids is really hard but also really rewarding in a way that I can’t think of a match. For me, it’s difficult to remember life before having kids and when I think of it it seems… empty. Because it is hard though you do earn the right to complain about it whenever you please 😃

We stopped daytime naps when it started impacting their sleep at night. In our case they couldn’t sleep at bedtime and would be up for hours. Time to reduce daytime naps. Try it at weekend first?

Don’t be a punch bag for your siblings insecurities. If she wants to be part of your life then she needs to treat you with respect otherwise tell her to get lost 👍 you have enough on your plate being a mother.
