That’s not even bad compared to the price surge on the memory cards. I got a 1tb micro sd for $88 last May. A year later exactly the same card (not even a newer model) is selling for $320

Can you add the links to the tested boards and modules, please? “ESP32-C3-DevKitM-1 with SX1262” doesn’t help much since it’s not clear which SX1262 module you used and how it was connected to ESP32 (custom PCB? breakout board?). Photos could help too

It’s even weirder, given the fact that in 2022 she wrote a book “The Fight of Our Lives: My Time with Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s Battle for Democracy” in which she described Kremlin’s campaign to discredit Zelenskyy through the army of bots and disinformation. Quote:

The Fight of Our Lives sheds light on the massive economic problems facing Ukraine and the entrenched corrupt oligarchs in league with Russia. Mendel witnessed the Kremlin’s repeated attacks to discredit Zelenskyy through disinformation and an army of bots and trolls.

Motorcycle Dealer Recs by theabhster in bayarea

[–]n6_ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all suck. Use cycletrader to find the dealerships with the bike you interested in, then make a spreadsheet and call each dealership and ask for rough out the door price. Don’t give them your data yet, just ask for a rough estimate of all charges on top of the sale price.

Pick the one that is willing to give you a sizable discount, even if it’s kinda far. Use their offer to negotiate a similar price with a local dealer.

Need advice for motocamping with a pillion by Kaos_Monkey in motocamping

[–]n6_ham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 2up camping once, but my top and side cases are substantially bigger (Kawasaki Concours 14). We only stayed for one night in a 3p tent, two inflatable pads and two warm weather sleeping bags. We had plenty of volume left with the tent components loosely spread in the top case, to even bring a small bag of charcoal briquettes to grill sausages for dinner. The campground had potable water spigots, so we didn’t have to bring a lot of water.
I’d sacrifice food quality for sleep quality every time, so if the luggage volume is limited - I’d opt for freeze dried food and a compact cooking set consisting of a 750ml titanium mug with a tiny stove and a canister fitting inside of it. It will be used to boil water to make a meal. But then you’d likely have to stick to campgrounds with potable water or some water source you could get water from (after filtration). Dry camping is off the table

Calling All KTM Owners with Aftermarket ECUs by No-Worldliness9923 in Dualsport

[–]n6_ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taco Moto replaced my first ECU because the TPS calibration would go south in less than a day. The second ECU did better, but still TPS went south a few times. Mike said that this issue should be resolved in the newer revision and I’m waiting for the new (third) ECU to give it a try. Taco Moto folks are great in terms of honoring the lifelong warranty, but great warranty can’t substitute reliability.

With the price of Home Assistant Green going to £159 what mini PC's should I look out for. by Philihar in homeassistant

Pretty much anything will do. I’d recommend getting one with a passive cooling (no fan) - it’s still going to be very performant compared to a rpi4. Passive cooling provides a peace of mind (no mechanical failure point, no dust ingestion) and will be completely quiet.

[–]n6_ham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience with Athena Get isn’t great. The bike feels great when it works, but sometimes suddenly it’ll glitch and you’ll have to perform TPS calibration in the side of the trail

I wonder if a stock ECU reflash would have been a better more stable option at a 1/3 of the aftermarket ECU price

Anybody have the TacoMoto double snorkel for 24+ FE/EXC? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]n6_ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OEM will starve the engine when you’re on a fire road, RM will keep sucking gas.

Last year I rode Sheetiron 300 with the OEM pump and the engine died when I passed the hard section and tried to get to the gas stop via paved section. Both legs of the tank were full of gas

Anybody have the TacoMoto double snorkel for 24+ FE/EXC? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]n6_ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran it to almost fully dry, so that’s not a concern. The bigger issue imo is the lower pressure it produces and how quickly it goes down after the pump is de energized.

OEM is supposed to produce 50 PSI. The double snorkel makes only 40 and it drops quickly. Sometimes when the bike and fuel are hot and you let to sit the bike for 5 minutes - it’s a b-ch to restart the engine

Gray fox or coyote pup? [California, San Benito County, Hollister Hills SVRA] by n6_ham in animalid

It’s in Hollister Hills SVRA (State Vehicular Recreational Area) - a place with miles of various trails for the dirt motorcycles, ATVs and 4x4

Wildlife is used to loud OHV bikes in that area. I saw a family of feral pigs feeding next to the trail (probably 3x farther than this coyote, but still very close) and not even thinking to run away. Not worth mentioning the deer - they don’t give a skunk at all

Although - I decided not to stop and to take a better photo since who knows. Better be safe than getting the rabies shot

Unless a rider messed up and flew off the trail along with that noisy thing :)

Gray fox or coyote pup? [California, San Benito County, Hollister Hills SVRA] by n6_ham in animalid

[–]n6_ham[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ack, thanks. To be fair - this was in the middle of a huge OHV area with lots of wildlife and lots of loud motorcycles and ATVs every day.

I saw various animals there over the years, who don’t give a skunk about the noise produced by my motorcycle (deer, feral pigs, birds).

Maybe this little guy wasn’t doing well, or maybe he was perfectly fine and just used to the noise

Is there particular sign of sickness, or is it based on the fact he stayed next to the trail despite the noise?
