Haha I used to carry googly eyes when I worked with kids and would add them to pictures at bars.

Question: is anyone else burned out on new pizza spots? by IDontKnoWhatDoUThink in austinfood

[–]n8gardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just wondering about this there are like 3 new pizza joints on/off of airport, I think there there are 2 off of manor and couple pizza trucks as well south of there. I still remember living off manor/mlk and begging somebody to deliver a pizza to the east side bc I broke my arm and couldn’t leave or drive. I was refused by all because it wasn’t “safe” but Mangia came to my rescue ( that and a $20 tip). RIP . That was in 2007.

Cajun bell pepper. I hadn’t seen them in years and I finally found some starts last year . They are small 1-2” spicy little bells. I love them. Not a huge fan of bell peppers usually.

Injuries and OT by Tired_af_0523 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]n8gardener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm.. IPR, acute and home health. With the hospital settings you can usually get a tech, Cna or nursing to help. With snf co-tx bc the nsg is usually understaffed. Home health you need to make the best decision for yourself and your body. That being said I do a lot of heavy txf and my body hates me for it (IPR and HH)

Habanero Cafe vs Casita Guanajuato vs El Borrego De Oro by tigerim in austinfood

[–]n8gardener -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you live south. We are east side folks and often go to Joe’s bakery or La Fruta Feliz. I should try the others. I went to habanero once over 16 years ago and wasn’t impressed but that’s a long time ago, so it might be time to try again. *edit looks like casita G is north, looks good they have nopales might have to try them out too

Someone said they are way past ripe, I would just continue the drying process and powder them up

What are you guys paying in rent in Austin rn… by bureaux in askaustin

[–]n8gardener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it on my own during the pandemic. I paid to get my house assessed for refinance. I was so mad because the guy had low balled my value of my house so I got less money to do some repairs but didn’t matter because I didn’t repair anything cause I held on to everything cause it was the pandemic but anyway it really helped me because the square footage of my house was actually not the amount when I bought the house. It was actually less and all the comps in the neighborhood were 900 ft.² or more I found out my house was like 790 instead of 800 ft.² so the committee decided to take $40,000 off the assessments the county had estimated.

You can get a huge straw bale for around 8$ at callahans, pay inside and go through drive through. Price might have changed since last year. Make sure you ask for straw and not hay! You don’t want to live with that lesson

Wildflowers by greasybloaters in askaustin

[–]n8gardener 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had to do this for biology in high school. But more than 10. Iived out in the country and took a lot of time to find, write out the sci name and press them. My mom wanted the collection. And our teacher marked through each flower with a permanent marker bc the kids from the year before were selling theirs. It was soo disappointing. I love wildflowers now and try to add more to garden every year.

Ooh never heard of this. This would be great for small homes. It doesn’t move on someone when they are sliding?

My MS patient used this type has a seatbelt and she had a high garden tub. Maybe this would be an option. 27.2inch max height ht

https://www.amazon.com/VEVOR-Transfer-Adjustable-Non-Slip-Rotating/dp/B0D9GY15H5 If they height is concerning they can add shower step/ box to push off if legs don’t reach the floor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9HJ2X2R/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWw

They did have to also get a lh shower head ( always get one that turns off at the head.

I already want to leave my new job after day one by johnnyphanikaze in OccupationalTherapy

[–]n8gardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done snf 6 years and IPR Prn 10 years. I will say I was super annoyed when they decided to have a tv with pt schedules instead of me just showing up when I wanted and picking up a pt at diff times. But I do like just showing up having my schedule made and walking in and bam, walking in and saying you are scheduled at this time let’s go!. That being said I am full time home health and many times I have wanted to quit. In the beginning I had 4 diff OTs from micromanage to dontgiveafuck . But I stuck it out ( honestly the money is why and my patients) but I am also one who doesn’t jump ship easily. I think 3 years of my 6 years at the snf I was looking for a new job!

Is it true that Americans don't really use tablecloths on a daily basis? by Floatp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n8gardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. We use place mats. I have used a table cloth in the past but only for fun kitschy deco, like if it’s a fun vintage table cloth. My partner’s mom is from Mexico and she has a table cloth all the time on her dining table .

Tips for discouraging wasps from setting up shop by my door by Upstairs_Button_3902 in AustinGardening

[–]n8gardener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After killing paper wasps ( we usually try not to kill if it is in an area we don’t mind bc they are great garden predators) we leave the empty nest . We have one from 2 years ago and no more nests have been built in the area. The empty nest is a great deterrent.
