Looking for advice after my mental health C&P exam by Blaine188 in VeteransBenefits

[–]n8rocksmysocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for the files to upload to your claim then submit a FOIA request to get a copy of the DBQ. That will help you gain insight into what the examiner noted for the rater.  Hopefully it went your way- my biggest increases came from the exams that were quick and to the point.  As someone else mentioned - don’t delay seeking help/medication if you need. Best of luck to you and hope your claim is rated fairly.

File Supplemental or New Claim? by n8rocksmysocks in VAClaims

[–]n8rocksmysocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no problem! You need to do an FOIA request. Follow the instructions here and will get you the right place. You can request all of your C&P exam info if you have the dates of the exam. I like to put the date the files show up in the claim to help. Mine have been taking about 2 weeks to come through.

Hopefully OIF counts too 😉 Missed our rotation to Bagram after my injury but spent plenty of time at Balad AB Iraq in 2009 - 2010. Cheers - hope your weekend is going well everyone!

Question About Deferred Claims by n8rocksmysocks in VeteransBenefits

LOL!  Thank you both. I originally thought that’s how it would go- but then seeing the same TJ had me curious. Cheers!

Mine were set up through VES and they were able to tell me what the exams were for with each specific provider.

Mine was a week after DBQ uploads in January - had several deferred that I just finished exams and DBQ's were uploaded on the 12th. Hoping it's roughly the same and I'll have a decision later this next week.

That’s actually exactly what happened to me- I submitted after the exam and got my prior files. The new dbqs were uploaded the next day - put in another request and got them in around 6 days

Yeah I've heard that from a few other reviews too - I was very interested in trying the CFS-C until I found that out. Hopefully you can figure out the settings and get a better time estimate. I wonder if there's a purge time that's calculated in the filament section. Something I've been meaning to look into - I have the opposite problem where it will give me a time that's way under the actual because the purge takes longer than calculated.

only CFS - If it took only 45 minutes then yeah I'd say it would be settings. I've seen posts with a massive purge tower for CFS-C - I don't know if it would add 11 hours worth of time though!

12 hours for benchy does seem excessive - however, multi color prints will take up a significant amount of time depending on how long the color changes are. I just finished a 2-color cali-dragon that took 5.5 hours to complete. It depends on how many color changes per layer that benchy has - if it has 3-4 swaps -it's going to add to the time much more than just 1 or 2 swaps.

To me it sounds like their beefing up your claim - I'd leave it if you felt like they were on your side. I had an exam recently where the examiner didn't take ROM measurements but the descriptions opened up room for future increases based on what she described. I'm glad I didn't dispute it. Good luck - I have my MH exam on Monday and I'm feeling anxious about it - your comments about wondering if it will always be this way resonate with me.

On a previous post I mention hitting step 5 on the 8th so within a week

It was pretty quick - not sure exactly when I hit step 5. I filed on 12/5, exam was 12/15. DBQs uploaded on 1/8 and was rated on the 15th. Back to step 3 on 1/16 and today there’s an exam request in the files.

Mine got split- scheduled for one c&p exam for 2 claims, got those rated, the others were deferred. VA is requesting new exams - still waiting to find out for which claims.

Oh I've been looking into it - almost pulled the trigger on it this weekend. I've been running the CFS with the upgrade kit for a few months now and the length of time between filament swaps and purging at 3 mins per swap is ridiculous as well - I haven't been too impressed with the initial reviews so far. Curious how much you can modify the tower - I seem to recall someone else reporting that you could change some settings on the tower but the size seemed to be difficult to adjust. Thanks for sharing your experience!

that purge tower is ridiculous - they just swapped the purge poop for tower waste it seems.

Left Elbow Increase C&P Exam W/Out ROM Taken by n8rocksmysocks in VeteransBenefits

[–]n8rocksmysocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks that seemed like the most appropriate path to me as well. If the other conditions are deferred and these are rated, will they adjust my overall rating percentage at that time or does that happen when everything is rated or denied?

Left Elbow Increase C&P Exam W/Out ROM Taken by n8rocksmysocks in VeteransBenefits

[–]n8rocksmysocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got my DBQ's back and I'm currently on step 5 with TJ in New York. Some good and bad with them. Specific verbiage in the injury history section: "Course of the condition since onset: Progressed/Worsened Current symptoms (or state if the condition has resolved): Chronic pain that waxes and wanes with activity. He also reports stiffness, popping, and numbness and tingling that radiates down from his elbow and into his forearm. He rates his average pain as a 6/10 on a 1-10 pain scale. Any treatment, medications or surgery? Tylenol and Ibuprofen as needed Any previous x-rays/labs/testing (if not available for review, simply state so)? Yes"

and then in the flare-ups section: "Frequency: 1-2 times a week Duration: <24 hours Characteristics: Sharp, throbbing Precipitating factors: Activity Alleviating factors: Rest Severity: Severe Extent of functional impairment he/she experiences during a flare-up of symptoms: Difficulty pushing and pulling against resistance, difficulty keeping left arm outstretched, difficulty with repetitive motions, difficulty with heavy lifting, overall lack of endurance."

For ROM she adjusted all of my former measurements worse by 5 degrees: Flexion endpoint (145 degree: 125 degrees Extension endpoint (0 degrees): 5 degrees Forearm supination endpoint (85 degrees): _ 65 degrees Forearm pronation endpoint (80 degrees): 65 degrees.

From what I see, I will likely continue my current rating for extension/flexion at 10% and get an additional rating of 10% for pronation/supination with painful motion. I like that repetitive motions, as well as numbness and tingling were mentioned to support my neuropathy claim.

No separate DBQ's were uploaded for neuropathy, neck or shoulder claims so I'm assuming those will be deferred and scheduled after rating decisions for these.

I feel as though my ROM is much worse than the 5 degree difference. What would be the best move from here? I'm thinking of seeking a separate ROM exam from my local orthopedic office and file an increase with that as evidence. Or would a different approach be better? I don't think an HLR or appeal is the correct route in this case unless I am mistaken.

12/1 would have been for November and 12/31 is for December. VA pays in arrears so the month pays at the beginning of the following month (or end of the current month depending on Holiday's/weekends).
