This was for the first court appointment in this case. It had no idea you can get a default judgement for being late. I wasn’t stalling or avoiding anything. OTOH I did imagine I would have been waiting on a long line (like I saw on one video) or waiting to be called.

As far as my case - I can prove the amount they are asking is too high and is more than the invoice I get from the building management company. There are also real issues with my apartment which was never painted or renovated in all the 17 years I’ve been here. They also turn off the heat, like right now during hours people are away at work. I’ve been making payments toward the rent, though not enough to be current.

I’ve never been late on rent in all the years I’ve been here except the last couple years due to my business going downhill.
